Mets:

  • The Mets beat the Padres, 6-1, to take their three-game series over the Padres…The Mets have won three of their last four games at home after losing the previous four at Citi Field…Overall, they improved to 48-30 (.615) at home this season which is the eighth-best mark in the majors and the fifth-best in the NL…Are now 30-20 against the Padres all-time in the regular season at Citi Field and are 7-2 against San Diego in Queens since 2023…Since August 1, their 249 runs are the second-most in the majors only trialing the Brewers 263 runs.
  • The Mets have hit 10 home runs during this series, which is their most ever in a three-game series at home…Courtesy of Elias.
  • Issued zero walks for the ninth time this season and they improved to 7-2 in those contests.

Jonah Tong (5.0 IP, 4 H, R, 8 K, WP):

  • Earned his second career win after tossing 5.0 innings and striking out eight while not allowing any earned runs…His eight strikeouts are the most by a Met who is 22 years old or younger since Noah Syndergaard struck out nine on August 25, 2015…He is the second pitcher in franchise history to have a start of at least 5.0 innings, recording eight or more strikeouts, issuing no walks, and not allowing an earned run through their first four career starts (also: Dennis Ribant, 8/17/64)…He joins teammate Nolan McLean who accomplished the feat earlier this season and prior to him the last Met to do so was Steven Matz on July 5, 2015 at Los Angeles-NL…He has struck out six or more in three of his four starts this season…He becomes one of 12 pitchers in franchise history to record 21 or more strikeouts through their first four career starts.

Pete Alonso (1-2, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 R):

  • Blasted a solo home run to center field in the first inning to put the Mets in front 1-0…Has homered in each of his last four games and it is the third time he has done so in his career (last: 5/16-19/23)...His 121 RBI are the second-most in the majors and are the fourth-most in a single season in Mets history…He only trails himself (131, 2022), Mike Piazza (124, 1999), and David Wright (124, 2008)...His six home runs this month are tied for the second-most in the majors over that span.
  • Through 16 games in September, he is slashing .286/.329/.619 (18-63) with three doubles, six home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs.

Francisco Lindor (1-3, BB, 2 R):
  • Singled in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to seven games…Over that span he is batting .308 (8-26)...It is the fifth time this season he’s had a streak as long (last: 12 games 8/12-24/25)...Recorded his 1000th career run scored in the third inning…He joins Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman as the only players to score 1000 or more runs since 2015.

Juan Soto (2-4, 2B, RBI):
  • Plated one with an RBI ground out in the third inning to give the Mets a 2-1 lead…Marked his 100th RBI of the season, and it is the fourth time in his career that he has reached the milestone (also: 2024, 2023, and 2019)...He is just one of 11 active players to have four or more 100 RBI seasons…His 100 RBI are the third-most in the NL, only trailing Kyle Schwarber and teammate Pete Alonso…His 100 RBI are the 10th-most by a Met through their first 151 games with the franchise and the most since Pete Alonso’s 115 RBI through his first 151 career games in 2019.
  • Doubled in the fifth inning and his 10 extra-base hits (3 2B, 3B, 6 HR) this month are tied for the fourth-most in the NL.

Brandon Nimmo (1-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB, R):
  • Blasted a three-run homer to right field in the third inning to increase the Mets' lead to 5-1…It was his 24th home run of the season, which matches his career-high set in 2023…Marked his seventh game this season with three or more RBI…He has hit safely in 25 of his last 31 starts dating back to August 12…Over that span he is slashing .306/.343/.479 (37-121) with six doubles, five homers, 23 RBI, and 20 runs.
