Tim Healey Newsday: Francisco Alvarez leads youth movement in Mets' win over Nationals. "In the major league lineup together for the first time, rookies Francisco Alvarez, Brett Baty, Ronny Mauricio and Mark Vientos each had at least one hit. They combined for six RBIs, including Mauricio’s first, and five runs scored. Alvarez led the way: 2-for-3 with a homer, a double and three runs. His three-run long ball in the first inning helped the Mets get off to a fast start against Patrick Corbin (four innings, eight runs). He also stole the first base of his career — a feet feat rivaled by Vientos’ first triple."
Mike Puma NY Post: "Jose Quintana’s second straight superb start, combined with five home runs by the Mets, turned this one into an early runaway...Brandon Nimmo also continued his career-year in power production with a two-homer game."

NY Post: Javier Baez’s perfect day at plate helps Mets roll past Nationals again. "After Villar doubled leading off the game and Lindor walked, Pete Alonso singled to load the bases. Michael Conforto followed with a shot through the middle for a single that brought in two runs. After Baez singled in a run to extend the lead to 3-0, Jeff McNeil hit a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring in the inning...The Mets continued their assault against Gray in the second and third innings, with Villar and Baez each hitting a solo homer to extend the lead to 6-3. Villar’s homer was his seventh in his last 28 games. Baez’s blast was his sixth in 24 games since joining the Mets at the trade deadline."
Mets.com: - Stat of the Day: Báez does it all "Javier Báez on Sunday became the first Mets player in 33 years to record at least four hits, a stolen base and a home run without making an out at the plate. The last Met to accomplish that stat line was Kevin McReynolds, who also went 4-for-4 with a homer and a steal on July 27, 1988. Two years earlier, Darryl Strawberry finished a game 5-for-5 with a homer and a steal."

ESPN.com: Lugo lifts Mets over Phillies; Harper erupts after ejection. "In his third start since joining the rotation, Lugo (2-2) pitched five innings of one-run ball and tied a career high with eight strikeouts. He ended a stretch of 19 games for the Mets without a starter earning a victory, which matched a franchise record set in 1980."
NY Post: "Lugo’s solid outing coupled with a strong bullpen performance led the Mets to a third victory in four games, 5-1 over the Phillies at Citi Field. Justin Wilson got the biggest out of the night, striking out Phil Gosselin in the seventh after Brandon Nimmo had dropped a flyball to center field that loaded the bases with two outs. Jeurys Familia, Wilson, Miguel Castro and Edwin Diaz combined on four scoreless innings behind Lugo."
Andres Gimenez went 2 for 2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 1 walk to lead the Mets offense.

The Back-Flip Game - despite the Mets jumping out to a 7-0 lead after with 4 i the 1st and 3 in the 2nd, all anyone will remember from this game is the amazing play that Bartolo Colon made in the 6th.
National Pastime.com: Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon, extending his streak to 22 consecutive scoreless innings, shuts out Miami, 7-0. The 42-year-old Dominican hurler’s performance will be best remembered for his behind-the-back flip, throwing out Justin Bour in the sixth inning of the Marlins Park contest.
NY Post: "D’Arnaud’s three-run blast in the first inning got the Mets started and Wilmer Flores homered on Brad Hand’s next pitch to give the Mets a 4-0 lead. Juan Lagares hit a two-run homer in the second before d’Arnaud delivered an RBI single that put the Mets ahead 7-0. From that point it was easy work for Colon."
Bartolo's Complete Game Shutout was part of his team leading 194.2 innings pitched in 2015. Bartolo's 42 year old season sometimes gets overlooked with the talented young pitching the Mets had assembled that year.
