Mets: 

  • Fell to the Padres, 7-4, in the second game of their three-game set…Snapped a five-game home winning streak against San Diego dating back to April 12, 2023…Despite the loss, are 13-6 over their last 19 regular season home games against the Padres dating back to July 24, 2018…Are 0-65 this season when trailing after eight innings. 
  • Have hit four home runs in consecutive games…Marks the ninth time in franchise history the club has hit four or more homers in consecutive games and the second time this season (also: 8/29-30)...Is the third season in which the Mets have hit four or more homers in consecutive games on multiple occasions (also: 2005 and 2016)...Their 14 games with four or more homers are the third-most in the majors this season behind the Yankees’ 17 such games and the Cubs’ 15 such games. 
  • Have recorded five or more extra-base hits in 14 games since July 27… Only the Yankees (15), Athletics (15) and Phillies (15) have more such games during that span. 
  • Dom Hamel became the 46th player to pitch for the Mets this season… The club’s 46 different pitchers used are the most by any team in Major League history over the course of a single season surpassing Miami’s 45 different pitchers used in the 2024 season. 

David Peterson (5.0 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, K, HR, HP): 

  • Has allowed six or more runs in three of his last seven starts…Had not allowed more than five runs in each of his prior 56 starts dating back to June 27, 2023…Has allowed four or more runs in each of his last four starts at home…Had not allowed more than three runs in each of his first 11 home starts at Citi Field this season. 

Pete Alonso (2-4, HR, RBI, R): 

  • Put the Mets on the board with a solo homer in the first…Has homered in three straight games for the first time since August 7-9, 2023…Had not homered in his prior 10 games…His 119 RBI this season are the sixth-most ever by a Met in a single season…Is one RBI shy of tying himself (2019) and Robin Ventura (1999) for the fourth-most by a Met.

Brett Baty (3-4, 2B): 

  • Roped a double in the second…Was his 13th of the season, surpassing his previous high of 12 set in 2023…Also recorded singles in the fourth and ninth…Marked his fourth game with three or more hits this season (last: 9/2 at DET)...Has a .347/.407/.541 (34-98) slashline with five home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI and 17 runs over his last 31 games dating back to August 12. 

Starling Marte (1-4, HR, RBI, R): 

  • Lined a solo homer in the fourth… Marked his first home run since August 23 at Atlanta (48 at-bats)...Has hit safely in each of his last six games and is batting .350 (7-20) during that span. 

Juan Soto (1-5, HR, RBI, R): 

  • Hit his career-high-tying 41st home run in the fifth (also: 2024)...His 41 home runs are tied with Todd Hundley (1996) and Carlos Beltrán (2006) for the third-most by a Met in a single season…Trails only Pete Alonso (53, 2019 and 46, 2023)...Was his 20th home run at Citi Field this season…Joins Alonso (2019, 2023), Carlos Delgado (2008), Cliff Floyd (2005), Hundley (1996), Howard Johnson (1991), Darryl Strawberry (1987-88, 1990) and David Wright (2008) as the only Mets to hit 20+ homers at home in a season. 

Francisco Alvarez (1-4, HR, RBI, R): 

  • Belted a solo homer to right-center field in the seventh…Over his last 33 games dating back to July 21, has a .278/.364/.567 (27-97) slashline with six home runs, eight doubles, one triple, 15 RBI, 17 runs and a .931 OPS. 

Dom Hamel (1.0 IP+, 3 H, HP): 

  • Did not allow a run over 1.0+ hitless inning in his Major League debut…Became the ninth Met and the eight Mets pitcher to make his Major League debut this season.
