Mets: 

  • Fell to the Rangers, 8-3, in the first game of their three-game series at Citi Field…Have lost a season-high-tying seven straight games for the third time this season (also: 6/13-20 and 8/3-10)...Have been outscored 44-18 and have pitched to a 6.95 ERA (44 ER/57.0 IP) during that span. 
  • Have allowed eight or more runs in 20 games this season…17 of those contests have come since June 14. 
  • Have reached the 200-home run plateau in a season for the seventh time in franchise history (also: 2006, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023, 2024)...Have hit 100 home runs in a season at their home ballpark for the sixth time in franchise history (also: 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023, 2024). 
  • Mets relief pitchers combined to allow two runs over 8.1 innings…Was the first time Mets relievers combined to allow two or fewer runs over 8.1 or more innings since September 14, 2022 vs. Chicago-NL when the bullpen allowed one run over 8.2 innings. 

Francisco Alvarez (2-3, HR, RBI, R): 

  • Put the Mets on the board with a solo homer in the third…Over his last 29 games, has a .286/.362/.571 (24-84) slashline with five home runs, seven doubles, one triple, 14 RBI and 15 runs.
Pete Alonso (0-3, RBI): 
  • Plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the third… His 114 RBI are the second-most in the majors this season…Are tied with Bernard Gilkey (1996), Mike Piazza (1999), Carlos Beltrán (2006) and David Wright (2008) for the second-most in franchise history through the team’s first 148 games of a season, trailing only himself (115, 2022).

Jeff McNeil (0-2): 
  • Was ejected in the fourth inning by home plate umpire Scott Barry for arguing balls and strikes.
Jacob deGrom (7.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 K, HR): 
  • Earned his 12th win of the season after allowing three earned runs on four hits over 7.0 innings…His 12 wins are his most since 2017 while with the Mets…Issued zero walks for the seventh time this season…His 35 walks this season are the sixth fewest in the majors and the fourth fewest in the AL (min. 150.0 IP)...Marked the first time he’s completed 7.0 innings since June 25 at Baltimore…He has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last six starts dating back to August 9 vs. Philadelphia. 
  • Owns a career 2.14 ERA (167 ER/703. IP) in 110 starts at Citi Field, which is the second-best in the history of the ballpark (min. 20 GS).
