Brian Joura Mets360: "The game got off to a good start, with Pete Alonso getting an infield single, which was a hit with RISP that gave the Mets a 1-0 lead. The team that scored first won the previous five games. But the Dodgers took the lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back."
Mark Vientos homered in the 4th. His two run shot gave him 14 RBIs for a single Post season, a new Mets record.
David Lennon Newsday: Mets' stunning playoff ride runs out of magic in NLCS Game 6 loss to Dodgers. "By the third inning the Mets were exactly where they didn’t want to be. Down 6-1, Manaea already was history, and that marked a way too early start for a relief corps that needed to ration as many bullets as possible."
Jason Fry Faith and Fear in Flushing: "Sean Manaea didn’t have his putaway stuff, Phil Maton looked gassed, and Kodai Senga turned in one good inning but not a second. Meanwhile, the hitters worked solid ABs and kept creating traffic, but couldn’t get the big hit they needed: They were 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position, and left 13 men on base."
Tim Healey Newsday: Mets fall to Dodgers in NLCS Game 6, are eliminated from MLB playoffs. "A postseason run that originated from and continued with the proverbial one big hit — Francisco Lindor in Atlanta, Pete Alonso in Milwaukee, Lindor again at Citi Field against the Phillies — ended with the Mets needing but lacking exactly that."

— Tim Healey (@timbhealey) October 21, 2024
The Mets' season is over. They entered the year looking like maaaybe a wild-card team -- and were. Then they got all the way to Game 6 of the NLCS.
The Dodgers will play the Yankees in the World Series. Game 1 is Friday in Los Angeles.

Mets take a 3-0 lead in the 2015 NLCS behind Daniel Murphy's Home Run in 5th straight playoff game and Jacob deGrom's 7 inning 4 hit, 2 run performance. Yoenis Cespedes goes 3 for 5 driving in 2 runs.
Cespedes doubled in David Wright to give the Mets a 1-0 1st inning lead. Kyle Schwarber homered in the bottom of the inning to tie it up. Daniel Murphy's Homer in the 3rd made it 2-1 Mets but the Cubs tied it again in the 4th on Jorge Solar's homer.
NY Post: "The Mets took a 3-2 lead in the sixth on Trevor Cahill’s wild pitch...Conforto had been struck out to end the inning, except that Cahill’s breaking ball hit the dirt and eluded catcher Miguel Montero, allowing the batter to reach first and Cespedes to score from third with the go-ahead run. Cespedes had stolen third after Duda’s surprising sacrifice bunt moved him to second."

Catfish Hunter outduels Tom Seaver as Oakland ties up the '73 World Series. Reggie Jackson doubles in a run off Seaver in the 1st and another in the 3rd. Mets stage a comeback in the 8th as Ken Boswell singles off Catfish Hunter to knock him out of the game. Darold Knowles allowed singles to Wayne Garrett and Felix Millan but strikes out Rusty Staub. Rollie Fingers retires Cleon Jones for the final out of the inning. A's get an insurance run off Tug McGraw in the bottom of the 8th aided by a Don Hahn error that allows Reggie Jackson to take 3rd on a single, Rollie Fingers set the Mets down 1-2-3 in the 9th to complete the Save.
Some say that Yogi lost the series by pitching Tom Seaver on 3 days rest instead of holding him to the 7th where he could go with his normal rest. They suggest that George Stone should have pitched game 6. But regardless of the Mets starting Pitcher, the Mets only scored once in Game 6 and with 1 out and the tying run 3rd in the 8th and their best hitters - Rusty Staub and Cleon Jones coming up, they were not able to score.
