Mets get blown out once again by the Dodgers in the 2025 NLCS losing 10-2 falling behind 3 Games to 1.
Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets had 10 hits, 3 walks and a HBP. That should have resulted in more than two runs, even more so considering they had a home run. But they were 0-10 with RISP and they left 12 men on base. It’s just a tough way to try to win a game."
Mike Puma NY Post: Mets demolished again as playoff magic evaporates to put season on the brink. "For the Mets, down 3-1 in the series, the mission is clear: Win three straight games against the Dodgers beginning with Friday’s Game 5 in Queens or start planning for spring training."
Mark W. Sanchez NY Post: Mets’ Jose Quintana hurt by Dodgers’ patient approach in rough outing. "Quintana lasted just 3 ¹/₃ innings in which he was charged with five runs on five hits and four walks, all against lefty hitters...He was not particularly wild but lived just off the plate and waited for swings that came against the Brewers (in which he went six scoreless innings) and the Phillies (five innings allowing one unearned run). Instead, his sinker was laid off, so he struggled to get ahead of hitters."
Laura Albanese Newsday: Three takeaways from Mets' 10-2 loss to Dodgers in Game 4. "1. This lineup needs a jolt...they’ve now been outscored 30-9 in this series, with Jack Flaherty starting for the Dodgers in Game 5. They’re 4-for-29 with runners in scoring position — all four hits were in their Game 2 victory — with 35 men left on base...2. The Mets have run out of white flags to wave...3. They gotta believe."

Despite going 0 and 7 against the Cubs in the regular season, the 2015 Playoff Mets were a different team than the team the Cubs swept in May and July. The Mets took Game 1 on homers and great starting pitching from Matt Harvey.
NY Post: Matt Harvey, Daniel Murphy propel Mets to NLCS-opening win. "Daniel Murphy and Travis d’Arnaud each homered to lead the attack against Jon Lester, and Curtis Granderson drove in two runs for the Mets, who won a second straight opener in this postseason. Harvey focused on his secondary pitches and lasted 7 ²/₃ innings in which he allowed two earned runs on four hits with two walks on nine strikeouts before Familia took it to the finish."
Ken Davidoff NY Post: This Matt Harvey signature moment is one to remember. "Despite a first-pitch temperature of 48 degrees, and coming off an NL Division Series Game 3 start in which he excelled more with grit than with stuff, Harvey dominated the dangerous Cubs, retiring the first 12 batters he faced and lasting a total of 7 ²/₃ innings, allowing two runs and four hits while walking two and striking out nine. Of his 97 pitches, an impressive 64 went for strikes."

NY Post: Mets Blink; On the Brink - Weaver, Bullpen Baffle Amazin's in Game 5. "In the fourth, the Mets had taken the initial lead, as Delgado opened with a leadoff walk against Weaver. Wright popped out but Green hit a ground-rule double off the right-field chalk, and Valentin pulled a two-run double to right, clapping his hands at second base, as the Mets held a 2-0 edge...
NY Post: Tom Bombs - Glavine Hot Streak Comes To Abrupt End. "In the fourth, things started to fall apart for Glavine. With one out, Albert Pujols drilled Glavine’s 77-mph changeup over the left-field wall to cut the Mets’ lead to 2-1...He seemed to rebound against the next batter, getting Juan Encarnacion to pop out for the second out, but the inning would get worse from there. Glavine walked Scott Rolen, then gave up a single to Jim Edmonds...Ronnie Belliard hit an outside fastball into right field, scoring Rolen and tying the game 2-2...Things got worse in the fifth. David Eckstein led the inning off with a bloop single to left field. Preson Wilson then doubled to right to score Eckstein and put the Cardinals up 3-2."
Mets head back to Shea down 3 games to 2 in the best of 7 series.

John Olerud puts the Mets up 2-0 in the 1st as he follows up his 3-RBI performance in Game 4 with a 2-run homer. Braves tie it up off Masato Yoshii in the 4th on a Chipper Jones RBI double and a Brian Jordan RBI single. It stays tied all the way until the 15th when Keith Lockhart triples off Octavio Dotel to score Walt Weiss and put the Braves up 3-2. Todd Pratt walks with the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning to tie it bring up Robin Ventura for a historic Mets Moment...
National Pastime.com: With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 15th frame, Robin Ventura hits a home run, which becomes known as "The Grand Slam Single," driving the Mets fans into a frenzied state as the team, who lost the first three games of the playoff series, extends the NLCS to a Game 6. The Shea Stadium hero is credited with only a single and one RBI when he fails to touch all four bases due to being mobbed by his teammates on the base paths, with the umpires awarding New York a 4-3 victory after ruling Roger Cedeño, the runner on third at the time, as the only player to have crossed home plate before the on-field celebration began.

That gives Matlack 14 innings in the World Series without an earned run after throwing a complete game shutout in the playoffs. Staub hits a 3-run homer in the 1st and adds a 2-run bases loaded single in the 4th for all the runs Matlack needed.
