Mets jump out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st on Mike Piazza's double and Robin Ventura's Sac Fly. Mike Hampton gets his first Post Season win in 5 tries with 7 scoreless innings on 112 pitches. Up 3-0, Mets put the game away in the top of the 9th as Todd Zeile hits a solo homer and Jay Payton adds a 2-run shot two batters later.
NY Post: "There was only one super intense moment through the whole evening. The Mets were up 3-0 and Jim Edmonds...was first-pitch swinging, going the other way, lifting a high flyball to deep left...As the possibility of a tie ballgame hung in the air, Agbayani looked shaky as his back went against the wall in front of the Mets’ bullpen. Agbayani said the ball was moving all around, because of the wind...Agbayani gathered himself and made an unconventional looking catch, to his side, just below his left shoulder. It ended the inning."
