(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates Hall of Famers’ service to their country year-round in the iconic Plaque Gallery.

During the month of November, the Hall of Fame will offer all military Veterans free admission to the home of baseball in Cooperstown.

All Veterans will be admitted to the Museum free of charge in November with proof of Veteran status that includes one of the following:
  • U.S. Department of Defense Form 214
  • NOAA Form 56-16
  • Public Health Service Form 1867
  • United States Department of Veterans Affairs ID Card
  • New York State Driver's License with Veteran distinguishing mark

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the Museum, in partnership with VetBaseball, a nonprofit dedicated to providing game-day experiences at MLB games at no cost to military veterans, will celebrate Veterans Day with special programs recognizing a visiting group of veterans from the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, D.C. The veterans will also take part in Cooperstown’s Veterans Day Parade, which begins at 11 a.m. right outside the Museum on Main Street, as well as lunch at the Cooperstown VFW and a private dinner in their honor in the Museum’s Plaque Gallery. The trip is made possible by the generous support of Fiserv, a global leader in payments and financial technology.

The Museum will host special public programs throughout the day on Veterans Day, including an Artifact Spotlight featuring Hall of Famers who served in the military, where the visiting veterans group will also be recognized. Additional Veterans Day programming at the Hall of Fame features special versions of the Plaques of the Gallery Tour and letters for Operation Gratitude. Following the month of November, the Hall of Fame will continue to provide 20-year career retired military and active-duty military with free Museum admission every day the Hall of Fame is open, with all other Veterans also receiving discounted admission each day.

Seventy of the 351 Hall of Famers interrupted their baseball careers for military service, and each is recognized with a medallion below their plaque in the Museum’s Plaque Gallery that identifies their branch of service and the conflict or conflicts in which they participated. The USS Cooperstown, a United States Navy-commissioned Freedom-class littoral combat ship homeported in Mayport, Fla., honors with its name these 70 Hall of Famers who served the United States during wartime. This heritage is reflected in the ship’s motto, “America’s Away Team.”
