Happy Birthday Sandy Alderson, Rich Chiles, Gene Walter, and Jay Payton.
On November 22, 2010, the Mets named Terry Collins as their new manager after they finished 4th in the NL East with a 70-92 record.
Terry would finish under .500 for 4 straight years before taking the team all the way to the World Series in 2015 and winning a wild card spot in 2016. He managed more Mets games, 1,134 than any other Mets Manager with the 2nd most wins, 551, behind Davey Johnson's 595.
Terry had managed for 11 years before making it to the playoffs in 2015.
NY Post: "Collins beat out Bob Melvin, Chip Hale and Wally Backman, all of whom had received callback interviews from general manager Sandy Alderson at last week’s GM meetings. Alderson, according to sources, was sold on Collins’ experience managing the Astros and Angels and his grasp of the Mets’ farm system — he served last season as the organization’s minor league field coordinator."
Collins will also always be known for his "A** In the Jackpot" moment with umpire Tom Hallion when Terry and Noah Syndergaard were ejected for throwing behind Chase Utley.
