| Matt Allan, 2020 Topps Heritage Cards |
5 days after the World Series ends, Minor League Players that have played or been on a roster for the last 7 years may declare themselves free agents.
Each year the list is full of guys that us Prospect Huggers just hat to see go.
First, players with injuries.
Matt Allan, Bryce Montas De Oca, Jace Beck and Brian Metoyer have all had their share of injuries these past years.
The Mets drafted multiple under-slot players in the 2019 draft in order to sign H.S Right-Handed Pitcher Matt Allan in the 3rd round for $2.5 Million. There was some questions about his health at the time but the Mets felt that they could work through it. He has had two Tommy John surgeries since 2021, came back to pitch 11 games, 15 innings for an 0-3 record and 3.60 ERA. He was shut down on June 13th and did not pitch the rest of the year. Do the Mets move on from Matt? I think it depends on how healthy they think he is. If the Mets think he will be ready for a full year in 2026, we could see him resigned soon.
Bryce Montes De Oca struggled with injuries since being drafted in 2018 draft. In 2022, he was able to get healthy and work his way to Flushing but then needed Tommy John surgery. He needed another Tommy John surgery in 2024 missing all of 2025.
Two players, Joshua Cornielly and Joander Suarez were 7 year minor league free agents last year and were resigned for 2025. Joander Suarez has pitched well for the Mets minor league teams - even throwing a no-hitter in 2023. But while other Mets pitching prospects had multiple opportunities in AAA, he has brief appearances in 2024 (2 games) and 2025 (3 games). He may look elsewhere this Winter.
Hate to see you go:
INF Luke Ritter, after leading the Mets minor leagues in 2024 with 26 homers and 93 RBIs, he had 139 less plate appearances in 2025 with only 11 homer runs. Like Joander Suarez, I can see him trying to find a better opportunity elsewhere.
Most likely to come back:
Ty Adcock, he told me in Syracuse in April 2025 that he signed with the Mets because he appreciated how they treated the players. If he comes back, he would provide an option at AAA with MLB experience.
The total list:
Pitchers:
Catchers:
Infielders:
Outfielders:

Why is Luis De Los Santos not on the list?
Because I missed it. Thanks. I will add him in.
