FLUSHING, NY, December 22, 2025 – The New York Mets today announced that the team has signed RHP Luke Weaver to a two-year contract.
"Over the past few seasons Luke has emerged as one of the most reliable leverage relievers in baseball and we're excited to add him to our pen," said Mets President of Baseball Operations David Stearns. "Luke's stuff, combined with his experience in high pressure situations in New York, sets him up well for success going forward."
Weaver, 32, appeared in a career-high 64 games for the New York Yankees in 2025 and went 4-4 with a 3.62 ERA (26 ER/64.2 IP), a 1.02 WHIP, 72 strikeouts and eight saves. The right-hander ranked ninth among AL relief pitchers in opponents' OBP (.258) and 14th in WHIP. The 6-2, 180-pounder held left-handed hitters to a .176 (22-125) batting average, the fourth-lowest such mark in the AL and the 11th-lowest mark in the majors among right-handed pitchers (min. 120 LHB faced). Overall, Weaver held opposing batters to a .195/.258/.364 slashline in 2025.
In 2024, Weaver went 7-3 with a 2.89 ERA (27 ER/84.0 IP), a 0.93 WHIP, 103 strikeouts and four saves across 62 appearances for the Yankees. Among Major League relief pitchers that season, Weaver ranked third in innings pitched and tied for third in strikeouts. During the Postseason, Weaver went 1-0 with a 1.76 ERA (3 ER/15.1 IP), four saves and 16 strikeouts. He did not allow a run over four appearances (5.0 innings) in the World Series.
A native of DeLand, FL, Weaver has appeared in 270 games (146 starts) over 10 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2016-2018), Arizona Diamondbacks (2019-2022), Kansas City Royals (2022), Cincinnati Reds (2023), Seattle Mariners (2023) and Yankees (2023-2025). For his career, Weaver is 38-49 with a 4.74 ERA (381 ER/723.0 IP) and 746 strikeouts. He was originally drafted by St. Louis in the first round (27th overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida State University.
