Report: Mets sign RHP Mike Baumann to minor league contract

 

According to Jon Heyman on X, the Mets have agreed to a minor league deal with 30-year old right Handed Pitcher Mike Baumann.  

Before pitching last year in Japan, Baumann pitched in the majors for Baltimore in parts of 2021, 2022, and 2023.  In 2024, he pitched for 5 different teams - Orioles, Giants, Mariners, Marlins and the Angels.  Overall he has a 15- record with a 4.95 ERA.  According to FanGraphs, he is out of Minor League Options.  He was ranked as high at 22 on FanGraph's Top 45 Orioles' Prospects in 2022.

According to Baseball Savant, he features a 96.5 4-seam fastball, a curveball, slider and changeup. He will likely be used as depth at AAA and get a chance at some point on the Syracuse to Flushing Shuffle in 2026.
