Today is the start of the 2026 IFA (International Free Agent) signing period. The Mets reportedly have a deal with the No. 2 rated prospect: Wandy Asigen, SS (Dominican Republic). Per MLB.com: "Asigen, despite being one of the youngest players in the 2026 international signing class, already has the look of potentially being next in that lineage. A standout performer during game action despite consistently playing against some of the Dominican’s top talent from a young age, Asigen has been heralded as having arguably the most advanced offensive profile among his class."
MLB.com: Mets announced that Pitchers and Catchers will report on February 11th with the Full Squad reporting and working out on February 16th.

- How defense became the key theme of the Mets’ offseason "As a team, the Mets had -13 Outs Above Average in 2025, 21st in the league. A -6 Fielding Run Value was also 21st, and their 0.3 Fangraphs defensive rating was 19th...the routine plays and the fundamental plays weren’t made with the regularity necessary to keep opponents from scoring...“It wasn’t just us; this was something the league picked up on very quickly last year,” Stearns said. “Especially teams that played us over the last month or six weeks.”

- Breaking down the Mets' Big 3 rookie pitchers "Nolan McLean, Jonah Tong and Brandon Sproat -- did reach the Majors last season, and they experienced varying degrees of success. McLean certainly looked the part of a front-of-the-rotation arm. Tong and Sproat flashed promise, and, barring a trade, seem poised to compete for rotation spots in Spring Training."
"They have to get Kyle Tucker."@KeithIrizarry and @john_jastremski join @emacSNY to discuss the importance of the Mets landing Kyle Tucker in free agency:
