FLUSHING, N.Y., January 20, 2026 – The New York Mets tonight acquired Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for infielder Luisangel Acuña and minor league RHP Truman Pauley.
Robert Jr., 28, was an All-Star with the White Sox in 2023 when he also won the Silver Slugger Award. He was a 2020 Rawlings American League Gold Glove winner.
The 6-2, 225-pounder has slashed .259/.313/.455 with 115 doubles, 102 homers, 298 RBI and 102 stolen bases in 577 games with Chicago over the last six years.
Robert Jr. established career highs in walks (40) and stolen bases (33) last year. He ranked fifth in the AL in stolen bases. The right-hander slashed .298/.352/.456 after the All-Star break. He drove in 53 runs in 2025.
His best campaign came in 2023 when he hit .264/.315/.542 with 36 doubles, 38 homers, 80 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 145 games.
Acuña, 23, hit .234 with seven doubles, eight RBI and 16 stolen bases over 95 games for New York in 2025. In 109 career games with the Mets, the 5-8, 180-pounder has hit .248 with nine doubles, three homers, 14 RBI and 16 stolen bases.
Pauley, 22, made three starts for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League in 2025 allowing one run over 4.1 innings. He was New York's 12th-round pick in the 2025 First-Year Player draft.
