After covering the team for more than a decade, Martino joins the franchise, bringing a fresh perspective and new voice to Mets news and storytelling
FLUSHING, N.Y., January 7, 2026 – The New York Mets announced today that Andy Martino has joined the organization as team reporter and host. Martino, who began his role on January 5, will contribute a new editorial perspective to Mets coverage and storytelling.
Martino has written about sports, culture and entertainment, and has covered Major League Baseball – specifically the Mets and the Yankees – for more than 15 years. A former staff writer at the Philadelphia Inquirer and New York Daily News, he was most recently a reporter and analyst covering MLB for SNY. Martino is the author of two books about baseball, both published by Doubleday, and he collaborated with NBA great Kenny Smith on Smith's 2022 memoir.
Martino completed his M.S. in journalism from Columbia University, his M.A. in English Education from New York University and his B.A. in Creative Writing from Purchase College, SUNY.

Good for Martino, now the important stuff. When will we see FA signings or key trades for the OF and SP’s ???
Unless current free agents will take short term deals, I don't see them doing much until next off-season. I think they will go with the youth next year.
