Report: Mets acquiring Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers for Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat

 

Per Mark Feinsand on X, the New York Mets have acquired 29 year old Freddy Peralta and 27 year old RHP Tobias Myers for Prospects SS Jett Williams and RHP Brandon Sproat. Jett is the Mets #3 Prospect while Brandon Sproat is listed by MLB Pipeline at #5.

A free agent at the end of the 2026 season, Freddy Peralta gives the Mets a top of rotation Ace, though perhaps for one year and at a high cost - two top 5 prospects.

Peralta went 17-6 last year with a 2.70 ERA.  According to FanGraphs, he is scheduled to make $8M next year.

Tobias Myers was drafted in 2016 by the Baltimore Orioles,  He played for 5 different organizations before being acquired as a minor league free again in 2022.  According to FanGraphs, he has one minor league option remaining.
