- Makeshift Mets offense breaks out with four Grapefruit League homers "The makeshift Mets hit four home runs against Yankees pitching, with Jared Young, Luis Torrens, Hayden Senger and minor league utility player JT Schwartz all going deep — one day after the lineup was held to two hits in the Grapefruit League opener."
- Carson Benge ‘definitely’ wants to crack Opening Day roster with Mets watching how he handles spotlight "Whether that can be accomplished in time for Opening Day remains to be seen, but the skill set has impressed scouts, who nearly universally believe Benge has a shot at success in the majors soon — if not by the end of March."
- Mets’ Nolan McLean fired up for WBC chance at bragging rights after USA hockey gold
- Mark Vientos enjoyed getting ‘feet wet’ at first base in spring game as Mets explore fit
Newsday:- David Lennon: Which version of Mark Vientos will the Mets see in 2026? "He started against the Yankees at first base, where he’s expected to get most of his time during spring training, and also will be in the DH mix. He is out of minor-league options, which basically forces the Mets to keep him on the big-league roster or trade him (he’d already be gone if there had been a deal to David Stearns’ liking in the offseason)."
- Laura Albanese: Whether it's rock-paper-scissors, Olympic Hockey or HORSE, Mets are coming together. "On Sunday, when a chunk of the team was in Tampa playing the Yankees, it manifested in a good-natured rivalry. Jonah Tong’s Canadian men’s hockey team was playing Christian Scott’s Team USA for Olympic gold, and when the red, white and blue pulled out the win in an overtime thriller, Scott posted the clip on his Instagram account and didn’t forget to tag his aggressively Canadian teammate."

Mets.com:
- Sorting out Mets' shifting infield options with newcomers
- 1 dark horse candidate for each team's Opening Day roster - for the Mets it is "OF Mike Tauchman When the Mets signed Tauchman after the official start of camp, it added depth to their right-field competition. The people’s choice to win that job is No. 2 prospect Carson Benge, who has a real chance to make the team. But Benge also has just 24 largely unsuccessful games of experience above Double-A. If he falters in Grapefruit League play, it will thrust the door wide open for the 35-year-old Tauchman to win the gig."

Jason Bay, who mutually agreed to terminate his
contract with the Mets in November after three years of futility in New York,
clouts a two-run homer in his first at-bat of spring training in the
Mariners' 8-6 exhibition victory over the Padres. The likable, but
oft-injured outfielder signed with Seattle in the offseason for $1 million, a
far cry from the four-year, $66-million free-agent deal he inked when he left
Boston for the Big Apple in 2009. |
