Newsday:
- Mets prospect Carson Benge has throwback approach when at the plate: 'I hate striking out' "“I hate striking out,” he said after going 3-for-3 in the Mets' 6-0 loss to the Cardinals at Clover Park Wednesday. And then again, later: “Anything not to strike out,” he said. “Putting the ball in play is good. Things will happen.”

- Mets Notebook: Carson Benge has 3-hit day, Francisco Lindor (hamate) gets stitches removed "Francisco Lindor (hamate surgery) had the stitches removed from his left hand Tuesday. Once the incision point heals, he’ll be able to start what Mendoza called “impact activities,” which should be in about two days."
- Mets’ Jonah Tong debuts cutter in Grapefruit League game "He debuted a new pitch Wednesday, one he calls a “cutter-slider type thing.” He went to it often, throwing it 18 times. It was working well until the third inning when Nolan Gorman hit one out of the park on a 2-1 count with one out. The Cardinals went up 3-0, and Tong got the next out before the Mets went to the bullpen. Tong went 2 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out two with 50 pitches."

"Another off-speed offering. Sometimes it's going to get hit. But that's the whole part of learning it. I'm happy it's happening in spring because at least I can take notes from it and push it forward" pic.twitter.com/Tx3zlrqw4f

"My hunch, [David Stearns] is not going to rush this guy. He's going to make sure he's ready. I don't know if that's necessarily going to be on Opening Day. I do know he's going to make an impact this season"

Spent some time talking to Benge while in PSL. Easy-going demeanor, doesn't overthink hitting: "I need to be as free as possible to be at my best." Yet clearly driven. If he doesn't make team out of ST, "it will light more of a fire under me" to reach big leagues. https://t.co/SE5Vk0fDOV

A.J. Minter (recovery from left lat surgery) expects to throw his first live BP next week.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) February 25, 2026
Minter's hope is to pitch in at least one Grapefruit League game before the end of spring training, but that's not a guarantee. He's about a month behind the Mets' other relievers.
"If I was pitching against me, I'd say he's a stubborn hitter"

Pete got a term in Baltimore that was completely deserving, but was something different than what David Stearns and Steve Cohen had an idea for how they wanted to construct their roster. I don’t think either party will blame each other at all. That’s the game. Ain’t nothing malicious about it.”
