PRESS RELEASE: METS TO UNVEIL NEW MURAL AT QUEENS CENTER MALL ON SUNDAY, MARCH 22
- Mike Lupica: The Mets have more to prove this season than the Yankees do. "And even with the long-term contract bestowed upon him by Cohen to get Stearns out of Milwaukee, Stearns has to be enough of a realist to know that he needs to produce for Cohen and soon — and that means produce a World Series — because he’s never going to have as much runway as Brian Cashman has with Hal Steinbrenner."
Newsday:- Sean Manaea is odd man out of Mets' rotation to begin season. "The Mets will have a five-man rotation, at least through the first two turns of the rotation, with Sean Manaea as the odd man out. Mendoza plans to use the 34-year-old lefthander in a piggyback role out of the bullpen, though it is to be determined which games he will pitch in...Thursday (Opening Day) vs. Pittsburgh: Freddy Peralta; Saturday vs. Pittsburgh: David Peterson; March 29 vs. Pittsburgh: Nolan McLean; March 30 at St. Louis: Clay Holmes; March 31 at St. Louis: Kodai Senga;

New York Post:
- Mets’ Mark Vientos belts homer to snap out of slump as regular season nears "Mark Vientos, who began the day 1-for-31 in the Grapefruit League, homered as part of the 3-1 split-squad loss to the Nationals in West Palm Beach, Fla...Jorge Polanco committed a throwing error in the eighth inning of the 7-5 exhibition loss to the Astros in Port St. Lucie."
- Jarred Kelenic fails to make White Sox roster as rough descent continues for former top prospect
- Sean Manaea’s demotion a clear sign of Mets’ urgency under Steve Cohen "Manaea lost his best fastball and — at least for now — his job with it. Whether he gets both back in the coming weeks in the nebulous role of “piggyback” starter is a subplot as the Mets embark on a season that, at minimum, is playoffs or bust — and arguably has higher expectations than that."
- Mike Tauchman to undergo MRI for knee issue as Mets face key Opening Day roster decision "The veteran outfielder departed Saturday’s 7-5 exhibition loss to the Astros with left knee discomfort and was to receive an MRI exam, according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza."
