Brian Joura Mets360: "The Dodgers belted four home runs, including a grand slam, leading to an 8-2 win over the Mets Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The victory gave the Dodgers a sweep of the three-game series and sent the Mets to their eighth-straight loss."
Mets Fall to Dodgers, 8-2:
- Mets looking for ways to transform frustration into answers, better play (MLB.com) "Only twice this century have the Mets lost more consecutive games than this. One of the most expensive lineups in Major League history is barely hitting, averaging 1.5 runs per game over the life of this streak. Even for teams as talented as the Mets, a bad week or two can be typical over the course of a six-month season."
- Mets have no answer for Ohtani and Dodgers, Devin Williams implodes in club's 8th straight loss (Newsday) "The Mets tried to get something going in the third, after newly recalled MJ Melendez collected their first hit of the game, a one-out double to left center. But Francisco Alvarez struck out, and Francisco Lindor battled Ohtani for 11 pitches before also striking out on a foul tip"
- Mets hit new low as disastrous losing skid hits eight games after getting walloped by Dodgers (NYP) " Another night of offensive futility left the Mets with an 8-2 loss at Dodger Stadium that ran their losing streak to eight games. This was the seventh time during that stretch the Mets scored two runs or fewer."

1964 | Water from the Gowanus Canal, which flows near Dodgers' old home Ebbets Field, and water from the Harlem River, located near the Polo Grounds, once the Giants and the Mets home ballpark, is blessed and used to christened Shea Stadium. The ballpark's namesake, Bill Shea, credited with bringing the National League back to New York, pours the water from two bottles, blessing the Flushing Meadow structure on the eve of its debut. |
1966 | On the second day of the season, Jack Fischer gives up just five hits in his complete-game effort, beating Atlanta at Shea Stadium, 3-1. The win represents the Mets' earliest victory in franchise history. |
2011 - The Mets are swept in a doubleheader for the second time in three days as they go down, 4 - 2 and 4 - 0, to the Atlanta Braves. In the second game, Jair Jurrjens throws seven shutout innings in his return from the disabled list, while Alex Gonzalez is the hero in the opener, hitting two of the Braves' four solo homers in support of Derek Lowe's pitching. The Mets have now lost seven in a row.
2013: The Rockies battle the elements to sweep the Mets in a doubleheader at home. The opener is delayed by two hours as an 8-inch snowfall has to be removed from the field, with Colorado owner Dick Monfort pitching in by manning a shovel, and the day concludes when Jordan Pacheco singles home the winning run in the 10th inning of the second game, for a 9 - 8 win. The Rockies also win the opener, 8 - 4, as the games are played in frigid conditions and occasional snow flurries. Reporters quip that there are more snowmen than fans at Coors Field.
2015: Giancarlo Stanton becomes the Marlins all-time leading home run hitter when he slugs #155 for his career off Dillon Gee of the Mets. He was tied with Dan Uggla since being hit in the face with a pitch late in the 2014 season. However, the Mets go on to win, 7 - 5.
