Brian Joura Mets360: "Bo Bichette capped a three-hit game with a 3-run double in the eighth inning, lifting the Mets to a 10-8 win over the Twins Thursday night at Citi Field. It’s the second-straight win for the Mets, lifting their record to 9-16."
Abbey Mastracco NY Daily News: "They won in a way that only the Mets could: They used two starting pitchers and one long reliever; they made mistakes on the basepaths, then made up for them with runs, several of which were unearned. There was a tie game, a big hit to move ahead late, and a debacle in the top of the ninth inning when right-hander Huascar Brazobán went out to the mound from the dugout, only to see closer Devin Williams jogging in from the dugout."
AP Sports Via Newsday: "After placing star Francisco Lindor on the injured list with a calf injury, New York led 6-1 in the fourth, 7-2 in the sixth and 7-3 in the eighth before Ryan Jeffers hit the first grand slam Huascar Brazobán allowed in his big league career."
Dan Martin NY Post: "The lineup scored three unearned runs off Minnesota’s Joe Ryan in the second and Tobias Myers settled the game down with 2 ¹/₃ solid innings in relief of Scott — who will likely stay in the rotation because the entire staff is in tatters. David Peterson, banished to the pen after three consecutive poor outings, was solid, allowing just one run in 3 ¹/₃ innings."

1962 | Commissioner Ford Frick fines Casey Stengel $500 for appearing in uniform for a beer advertisement, which shows the Mets manager ready to bunt. Kathy Kersh, who is holding the ball in the Rheingold ad, will later become better known as Cornelia, one of the Joker's women in the 1960's Batman television series. |
1965 | Casey Stengel wins his 3,000th game as a manager when his Amazin' Mets score three runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Giants at Candlestick Park, 7-6. The 'Old Perfessor,' who served as the skipper for the Dodgers, Braves, and Yankees, won more than a third of his games (1,149) during his 12-year tenure with the Bronx Bombers. |
2012 | For the first time in major league history, four different pitchers combine to walk four consecutive batters when the Marlins hurlers load the bases and then force in a run in a 2-1 loss against the Mets. Josh Johnson walks Lucas Duda, then Randy Choate issues a free pass to Justin Turner, followed by Steve Cishek's base-on-balls to Scott Hairston, and finally, Mike Dunn forces home Josh Thole with the tying run with the last of the only walks given up by the Miami staff in the Citi Field contest. |
2015: The Yankees snap the Mets' franchise record-tying 11-game winning streak with a 6 -1 win. Jacob deGrom allows three homers, two by Mark Teixeira and the other by Jacoby Ellsbury to be tagged with the loss. Michael Pineda is the winner.
