Mets: 

  • The Mets dropped their series opener to the Twins, 5-3...It is their 12th consecutive loss and it is tied for their sixth-longest losing streak in team history (also: 8/10-8/23/02)...Fell to 3-7 at Citi Field after beginning the season 3-1 at home...Have scored three or fewer runs in 10 of their last 12 games and their 1.83 runs per game over that span is the worst in the majors.

Francisco Lindor (1-3, HR, RBI, BB, R): 

  • Blasted a three-run homer to right field to put the Mets in front 3-0...Was his second homer of the season and marked his first game with multiple RBI...Has recorded a hit in eight of his last 11 games and is batting .273 (12-44) over that span.

Mark Vientos (1-2, BB): 

  • Singled in the third inning and drew a walk in the fourth...Has reached base safely multiple times in a game for the fourth time this season and the first time since April 5 at San Francisco.

Nolan McLean (6.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 10 K, HR): 

  • Fired 6.2 innings and struck out 10 batters...His 10 strikeouts were a season-high and he is the first Met to record at least 10 strikeouts since himself on September 25, 2025 at Chicago-NL...Was this first time this season and the third time in his career he has issued zero walks (also: 8/22/25 at ATL and 8/27/25 vs. PHI)...Marked the first time this season he has allowed more than two earned runs in a start...Is only the second time he has allowed more than two earned through his first 13 Major League starts (also: 9/25/25 at CHC).
  • He retired each of his first 15 batters faced for the second time this season (also: 4/3 at SFG)...He is the third pitcher in franchise history to be perfect through 5.0 innings multiple times in a season (also: Steve Trachsel, 2002 and Rick Reed, 1998)...His is the first pitcher in the Expansion Era (since 1961) to retire each of his first 15 batters multiple times in his first 13 career starts...Per Elias. 
  • Recorded double-digit strikeouts for the second time in his career (also: 11 K at CHC on 9/25/25).
  • He is one of four pitchers in Major League history to strikeout 95+ batters and allow 20 or fewer earned runs through their first 13 starts (also: Hideo Nomo, 119 K and 20 ER, Matt Harvey 95 K and 20 ER, and Paul Skenes 103 K and 17 ER). 
  • Over seven starts at Citi Field he has posted a 1.70 ERA (8 ER/42.1 IP)...It is the fifth-best mark by a Met through their first seven home starts with the franchise...He is trailing Noah Syndergaard (1.46), Taijuan Walker (1.52), Carl Willey (1.57) and Charlie Puleo (1.70)
