LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones dropped their third straight game on Thursday, falling 9-2 in Bowling Green...RHP Jonathan Jiménez threw a season-high 4.1 innings, but took his fourth loss of the season after allowing five runs...The Hot Rods' offense was powered by RF Connor Hujsak, who launched a grand slam in the bottom of the 1st and finished the night with a career-high 5 RBI, and DH Ryan McCoy, who added a pair of home runs and a double while driving in three runs...3B Colin Houck slugged his first home run of the season for Brooklyn, a two-run shot in the top of the 2nd to cut the Hot Rods' four-run lead in half...Six Cyclones collected a hit in the loss...Brooklyn has been held to two or fewer runs in eight of their last nine games.
AUSTIN POWERS: RHP Channing Austin is off to a marvelous start to 2026...The 24-year-old was dominant last Saturday vs. Frederick, firing 5.2 scoreless innings, permitting just one hit while walking two and striking out seven...Austin has not allowed a run in each of his last three appearances (15.0 IP)...The Brooklyn native punched out eight on April 21 at Hudson Valley...The eight strikeouts fell one shy of his previous career high...Austin whiffed nine batters over 4.0 innings on June 26, 2025, at Jupiter...Austin enters play on Friday ranked second in the South Atlantic League in ERA (1.21) and batting average against (.143), and seventh in WHIP (1.16)...He is the only Brooklyn starter this year to record an out in the 6th inning.
