FLUSHING, N.Y., May 16, 2026 – The New York Mets are encouraging fans attending the Mets vs. Yankees Subway Series games on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17 to plan ahead and use the club’s expanded transportation options following the start of the Long Island Rail Road strike. With LIRR service suspended and near-capacity crowds expected at Citi Field throughout the weekend, fans are strongly encouraged to allow additional travel time and take advantage of the many alternate transportation options available to and from the ballpark.
- For fans traveling from Long Island, the Mets are providing additional Citi Field Direct Shuttle service from Roosevelt Field and Walt Whitman Shops, along with a new shuttle route from the Manhasset LIRR Station serving the Port Washington Line area. Fans should note that the Manhasset shuttle route will operate only during the duration of the LIRR strike.
- Fans traveling from the Bronx, Westchester and Connecticut can continue using Citi Field Direct Shuttle service from The Mall at Bay Plaza, as well as Seastreak Ferry service departing from Stamford, Connecticut.
- Fans traveling from New Jersey and Staten Island can continue using Citi Field Direct Shuttle service from Paramus Park and Newport Centre Mall, Seastreak Ferry service departing from Highlands, N.J. and St. George, Staten Island, as well as NJ Transit and New York City subway service.
The 7 train will continue operating regular subway service from major transfer points throughout Manhattan and Queens directly to Mets-Willets Point Station. Additionally, Citi Bike access and rideshare pick-up and drop-off operations at Citi Field will continue operating normally.
If fans must or elect to drive to Citi Field, we encourage you to take advantage of nearby discounted parking options and allow for additional travel time due to anticipated increased traffic in and around the ballpark.
Fans are encouraged to visit Mets.com/Transportation and the MLB Ballpark app and click on the Mets logo and select “Getting to the Game” for the latest transportation information and to curate a personalized travel plan to Citi Field.
