Mets: 

  • Fell to the Cubs, 10-5, in the third game of their series and the second game of their doubleheader...Have now lost five consecutive games and seven of their last nine dating back to June 15...They have been outscored 72-37 over that span...Allowed double-digit runs for the seventh time this season...Is the first time they have allowed 10 or more runs in consecutive games since June 8-9, 2023...Have lost all six of their meetings with the Cubs this season...The last time they dropped six in a row to Chicago-NL was from July 17, 2022 - May 24, 2023. 
  • Marked their second game this season with four or more home runs (also: 5 HR vs. DET on 5/14)...Are 18-8 in games where they have hit multiple home runs. 
  • Committed at least six errors for the 11th time in franchise history and for the first time since September 1, 2014 at Miami...Are now 0-11 when committing five or more errors in a game. 

Sean Manaea (3.0 IP+, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, WP): Allowed three earned runs over 3.0+ innings while striking out four...It was the shortest outing of his three as a starter this season...Over his last nine appearances (three starts) dating back to May 10 he has pitched to a 3.60 ERA (14 ER/35.0 IP)...Comparatively, he pitched to a 6.85 ERA (17 ER/22.1 IP) over his first eight appearances of the season. 

Francisco Alvarez (1-4, HR, RBI, R): Hit a solo home run to left center field in the second inning to even the score at 1-1...Is the first player since Francisco Lindor on September 27, 2023 to homer in each game of a doubleheader...Has homered in three consecutive games for the second time in his career (last: 7/4-6/23)... Since his return from the Injured List, June 9 vs. St. Louis, has slashed .319/.360/.574 (15-47) with four home runs, eight RBI and a .934 OPS. 

AJ Ewing (2-3, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R, BB): Hit a two-run homer in the second inning to put the Mets' in front 3-1...Was his first career home run off a left-handed pitcher...His home run traveled 420 FT, marking the longest home run of his career...Also doubled in the seventh inning...Has recorded 10 multi-hit games this season.

Mark Vientos (1-4, HR, RBI, R): Launched a game-tying solo home run to left field in the fourth inning...Over his last nine games he is batting .292 (7-24) with five runs, three home runs, seven RBI, three walks and a 1.024 OPS. 

Bo Bichette (2-4, HR, 2B, RBI, R): Blasted a solo home run to left field in the sixth inning to cut the Mets' deficit to 6-5...Also doubled in the eighth inning...Over his last 19 games dating back to June 3 he is batting .380 (3079) with 14 runs, six doubles, one triple, five homers, 18 RBI with a 1.057 OPS... Over that span he ranks tied for second in hits, fifth in batting average and tied for seventh in total bases in the majors. 

Luke Weaver (1.0 IP, BB, K): Fired a scoreless seventh inning and recorded a strikeout...Each of his last 19 appearances has been scoreless (21.0 IP)...Since May 1 he is the only reliever in the majors who has thrown at least 20.0 innings without allowing a run...He is the first Mets reliever with a scoreless streak of at least 21.0 innings since Edwin Diaz had a 21.0 IP scoreless streak from June 22-August 17, 2022...Per Elias. 

Huascar Brazobán (2.0 IP, 4 K): Entered with no outs and two men on in the fourth inning and struck out the side...He also threw a scoreless fifth inning while recording one more strikeout...Is the ninth time in his career he has recorded at least four strikeouts in an outing and has done so twice this season (also: 6/12 vs. ATL)...Completed at least 2.0 innings for the fifth time this season and three of those appearances have been scoreless.

  • Has pitched to a 1.10 ERA (4 ER/32.2 IP) over 27 relief appearances this season...Is the fifth-best mark by a Mets reliever through their first 27 appearances of the season (min. 25.0 IP). 

Tyrone Taylor: Singled and drove in a run for Triple-A Syracuse in his fourth rehab appearance.
