Mets: Dropped the opening game of their four-game set with the Cubs, 9-6...They have now lost three consecutive games...They have allowed six or more runs in each of those losses and it is the second time this season they have done so (also: 4 G, 5/17-20)...Have lost each of their four meetings with the Cubs this season...Is the first time they have lost four consecutive meetings with Chicago-NL since they lost four straight against them from September 13, 2022 - May 24, 2023...Fall to 18-19 at Citi Field this season.
Kodai Senga (3.2 IP, 3 H, 7 ER, 5 BB, 6 K, 2 HR, HBP): Allowed seven earned runs over 3.2 innings on three hits, five walks and two home runs...Gave up multiple home runs for the fourth time in his last five starts...Has walked at least four batters in consecutive starts...Recorded six or more strikeouts for the third time this season.
Francisco Alvarez (2-4, HR, 3 RBI, R): Plated two when he singled with the bases loaded in the second inning and launched a solo home run to left center field in the seventh inning...His three RBI are a season-high and it marks the first time he's driven in at least three runs in a game since he collected four RBI on August 15, 2025 vs. Seattle.
- Has hit safely in 17 of his last 20 games dating back to April 30...He is hitting .304 (21-69) with nine RBI over that span.
A.J. Minter (1.0 IP, H, K): Fired a scoreless ninth inning and recorded a strikeout...Hasn't allowed an earned run in each of his last 22 appearances dating back to April 4, 2025... It is the fifth-longest such streak in Mets franchise history...He hasn't allowed an earned run over 11 appearances since returning from the Injured List this season.
Cionel Pérez (2.1 IP, K): Fired 2.1 scoreless innings in relief and recorded one strikeout...Was his longest outing of the season...Marked the first time he threw at least 2.1 innings since he completed 2.2 innings on May 17, 2025 vs. Washington while with Baltimore.
Bo Bichette (2-4, HR, 2 RBI, R, BB): Singled in the fifth inning and hit a two-run homer to right field in the ninth inning...Also drew a walk in the seventh...Over his last 17 games dating back to June 3 he is batting .380 (27-71) with 12 runs, five doubles, one triple, four homers, 16 RBI with a 1.035 OPS...Over that span he ranks tied for second in hits, fifth in batting average and eighth in total bases in the majors.
Francisco Lindor: Recorded two hits and scored two runs for Triple-A Syracuse in his second rehab appearance.
Tyrone Taylor: Hit safely three times for Triple-A Syracuse...He double and homered with three RBI and three runs scored in his third appearance on his rehab stint.
Ronny Mauricio: Singled twice and drove in three runs for Triple-A Syracuse...Marked the fourth game of his rehab stint.
RHP Nolan McLean will start game one of tomorrow's doubleheader and LHP Sean Manaea will start game two.
