Mets: The Mets beat the Royals, 6-2, to even up their three-game series...Have won three of their last four games and improved to 20-25 at Citi Field this season...Have scored six or more runs in each of their last four games...Is the second time they have done so this season and the first time since a four-game stretch from May 16-19...Improved to 8-5 against Kansas City in Queens all-time and they have won five of their last seven at home against the Royals dating back to June 21, 2016.
A.J. Ewing (2-5, HR, 2B, RBI, R): Led off the first inning with a home run to center field and doubled in the eighth inning...Marked his first career lead off home run...He is just the second Met in franchise history to hit a lead off home run at 21-years-old or younger (also: Gregg Jefferies, 2x 1989)...Has homered in back-to-back games for the first time in his career and has three homers over his last four games...Over his last 23 games since June 14, he has a .316/.400/.608 (25-79) slashline with six home runs, five doubles, 17 RBI, 13 runs and a 1.008 OPS.
- Six of his first seven Major League home runs have come at home...At Citi Field this season he has posted a .315/.406/.587 slashline with 12 extra-base hits, 17 RBI and a .993 OPS.
- A.J. Ewing became the fifth Met this season to hit a lead off home run joining Francisco Lindor, Bo Bichette, Juan Soto and Carson Benge...The last time the Mets had at least five players hit a leadoff home run in a season was 1962.
Carson Benge (2-3, R, BB): Singled in both the fourth and sixth innings...Has recorded multiple hits in three consecutive games...Has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games since June 25 and he is batting .309 (17-55) with an .822 OPS over that span... His 73 hits since May 3 are tied for the second-most in the majors.
Christian Scott (5.0 IP, 3 H, BB, 5 K): Fired 5.0 scoreless innings while recording five strikeouts in his 12th start of the season...Was the first time he completed at least 5.0 innings since June 5 at San Diego...Marked his third start scoreless start of at least 5.0 innings this season...Has allowed four or fewer runs in each of his first 21 career starts...He is the only Met to accomplish the feat and one of eight players in Major League history to do so...Walked one or zero batters for the third time this season...The Mets are 9-3 in games started by him this season.
- Recorded his 100th career strikeout in the first inning at the expense of Carter Jensen.
Jared Young (0-2, RBI, R, HBP): Collected the go-ahead RBI in the eighth inning when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Brett Baty (1-4, 2 RBI, R): Plated two with a bases loaded single in the eighth inning to push the Mets' lead to 4-1...Has hit safely in a career-high-tying eight games (also: 7/18-26/25 and 5/9-18/26)...Over his hitting streak he is batting .300 (9-30) with four doubles and four RBI.
Francisco Alvarez (1-3, RBI, BB): Hit an RBI single to left field in the eighth inning...Has five hits and two RBI over his last four games.
Luis Robert: Recorded two hits and scored a run for Double-A Binghamton in his fourth rehab appearance.
