From the Mets 10 Marlins 1 Post Game Notes - 5/31/2026:
Mets: Completed a sweep of the Marlins with a 10-1 victory...Marked their second sweep of the season (also: 5/12-14 vs. Detroit) and their first sweep of the Marlins since July 29-31, 2022 in Miami...Moved to 15-15 at home this season and have won nine of their last 12 games at Citi Field.
Juan Soto (2-4, HR, 4 RBI, R): Slugged his third career grand slam in the sixth (last: 9/1/25 at Detroit)...Was the first grand slam for the Mets this season...Has nine home runs in his last 15 games dating back to May 14, the most in the majors during that span.
Luis Torrens (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R, HBP): Laced a two-run single with the bases loaded in the fourth.
David Peterson (4.0 IP, H, BB, 3 K): Picked up his first career regular season save after he threw 4.0 scoreless innings in relief.
Carson Benge (1-4, HR, RBI, 2 R, BB): Put the Mets on the board with his first career lead-off home run...Became the 12th Mets rookie to hit a lead-off home run and the first since Mike Baxter on August 30, 2012 at Philadelphia.
Marcus Semien (2-2, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB): Lined a two-run homer in the second...Over his last 10 home games, has a .342/.425/.657 slash line with three home runs, two doubles, six RBI, eight runs and a 1.082 OPS.
Nolan McLean (5.0 IP, 2 H, ER, 5 BB, 2 K, HBP): Allowed one run on two hits over 5.0 innings in the 12th start of the season...Issued a career-high five walks (previous high: 4, 8/16/25 vs. Seattle)...Struck out a career-low two batters (previous low: 4, 4/3/26 at San Francisco.
Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets hit three home runs and had two pitchers combine on a 3-hitter as they completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins Sunday afternoon with a 10-1 victory."
NY Post: "The offense, dormant for an ugly stretch on the road, scored 25 runs in the series against Miami. That production, they hope, follows them to the West Coast, where the Mets open a six-game trip Monday in Seattle, with three against the Mariners followed by three in San Diego."
Mets.com: "Every Mets starter reached base safely at least once, and eight of the nine scored at least one run, with Soto’s sixth-inning grand slam leading the team-wide attack. Carson Benge also led off the game with a homer, and Marcus Semien hit a two-run shot for the Mets, who have won four straight overall."
AP Sports: "Soto, Francisco Lindor and Bo Bichette also have leadoff homers this season for the Mets, making them the third team to have four players accomplish the feat prior to its 60th game. The others were Tampa Bay in 2007 and the New York Yankees last year, according to MLB researcher Sarah Langs."
Mets.com: "Coming off the two worst starts of his career, McLean rebounded to hold the Marlins to one run over five innings Sunday in a 10-1 win at Citi Field. McLean’s issues didn’t exactly dissipate, as he walked five batters, hit another and threw 94 pitches. But he also allowed just two hits and stranded seven runners on base, sticking around long enough to qualify for a win."
