FLUSHING, NY, July 31, 2026 - The New York Mets have announced that they have acquired infielders Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for LHP A.J. Minter.
Agbayani, 19, is the son of former Mets outfielder Benny Agbayani, who spent parts of four seasons in New York. The 6-2, 185-pounder was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2025 First-Year Player Draft out of St. Louis School in Honolulu, HI. The left-handed hitter has been limited to 15 minor league games over two years but has hit .263/.432/.316. Agbayani missed time earlier this year with a right thumb strain and has been on the IL since May 16 with a right shoulder strain.
Amick, 23, was originally selected in the second round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee. He appeared in 86 games with Double-A Wichita this season, splitting time between first and third base while batting .217/.338/.482 with 23 home runs and 72 RBI. He has appeared in 163 minor league games, slashing .251/.368/.463 with 34 doubles, one triple, 34 home runs, 112 RBI, and an .831 OPS.
Minter, 32, signed with the Mets as a free agent prior to the 2025 season. He appeared in 36 games with the Mets, including 23 this season. Over the course of his tenure in New York, he posted a 1-1 record with a 2.12 ERA (8 ER/34.0 IP), seven walks, and 34 strikeouts.
