FLUSHING, NY, July 31, 2026 - "The New York Mets have announced that they have acquired infielders Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for LHP A.J. Minter...Amick, 23, was originally selected in the second round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee. He appeared in 86 games with Double-A Wichita this season, splitting time between first and third base while batting .217/.338/.482 with 23 home runs and 72 RBI. He has appeared in 163 minor league games, slashing .251/.368/.463 with 34 doubles, one triple, 34 home runs, 112 RBI, and an .831 OPS."
Baseball America: "Amick hits the ball hard, with a 90th percentile exit velocity creeping toward 107 mph as of late July and steep launch angles. The tradeoff is a worrisome amount of swing-and-miss, especially in the strike zone. Defensively, he has split his time between third and first base this season. Most of his future value will be tied to his bat."
Baseball Savant: "Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 40 | Arm: 50 | Field: 45 | Overall: 40...It was generally thought that Amick would hit as a pro, but there was less clarity about his defensive home, and he’s yet to answer those questions. A combination of lack of range and inconsistency with his hands makes a move to first base, where he’s played some as a pro, possible. He works hard to improve his defense at the hot corner, and there’s more pressure on his power bat should he become a first baseman only."
