Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (18-18, 43-58) continue a six-game road trip against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (21-15, 52-49) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals  —  on Wednesday evening at 6:35 p.m. ET from Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.

RHP Emilio Obispo (0-0, 1.93) is projected to take the ball for Brooklyn. Wilmington is scheduled to counter with RHP Carson Fischer (3-0, 3.18).

Live coverage on the Cyclones Radio Network, Bally Sports Live, and MiLB.tv will begin at 6:20 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones took the opener in Wilmington, defeating the Blue Rocks 7-1 on Tuesday night...LHP Nicolas Carreño was masterful, throwing 5.2 no-hit innings and striking out eight batters to earn his first High-A win...RHPs Parker Carlson, Luis Rodríguez and Juan Arnaud closed out the victory, holding Wilmington to just two hits...The Cyclones opened the scoring in the 3rd when 3B Jamari Baylor and LF Trey Snyder both homered in the frame...For Snyder, the two-run blast was his first at High-A...CF Aidan Smith tallied two hits, a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base, and RF John Spikerman drove in a run with an RBI single in the duo's first game with Brooklyn...DH Randy Guzmán added an RBI single of his own, extending his hitting streak to six games since joining the Cyclones.


25th ANNIVERSARY: The Cyclones celebrate their 25th anniversary season in 2026...Since the inaugural 2001 campaign, Brooklyn has captured three league titles...The Cyclones shared the New York-Penn League crown with the Williamsport Crosscutters in their first season before taking home the final NYPL title in 2019...Brooklyn captured its first full-season championship in 2025, going 4-0 in the postseason against Greensboro and Hub City.


RANDY RAKES!: 1B/OF Randy Guzmán has been impressive to start his High-A career...The 21-year-old slugged his first home run with the Cyclones while going 2-for-4 at the plate on Sunday...Through six games, Guzmán is 10-for-25 with a double, a home run, six RBI, two walks and a hit-by-pitch...The Dominican native has hits in all six High-A games, including multi-hit games in three of his last five games...Since coming off the injured list on July 17, Guzmán is slashing .389/.470/.685/1.155 in 15 games between the two A-ball levels with 13 runs scored, four home runs, seven extra-base hits and 18 RBI.


FIRST AID-AN: OF Aidan Smith made an immediate impact in his first game as a Cyclone...The Tulsa, Okla. native reached base three times, going 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base...Smith began the year on the Injured List for Bowling Green and did not rejoin the Hot Rods until May 19...After a slow start to the season, the new Mets farmhand has found his stride over the last month...Since July 5, Smith has slashed .286/.347/.619/.966 with 15 runs scored, three doubles, six home runs, 17 RBI and four stolen bases in 15 games.


HAVE WE MET BEFORE?: The trade deadline saw the Mets acquire four players who join the Cyclones from South Atlantic League opponents: SS Sammy Stafura (Greensboro), OF Aidan Smith (Bowling Green), RHP Luke Gabrysh (Jersey Shore) and OF John Spikerman (Jersey Shore)...Stafura played 47 games for Greensboro, slashing .301/365/.656/1.021...The middle infielder has 19 home runs and 16 stolen bases on the year, and led all of Minor League Baseball with 14 home runs in July...In 49 games with Bowling Green, Smith slashed .215/.283/.410/.693...Like Stafura, Smith has flashed power and speed, tallying 10 home runs and 14 stolen bases...Gabrysh appeared in 18 games (17 starts) for the BlueClaws, going 3-8 with a 5.14 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 68.1 innings...The right-hander has been brilliant against the Cyclones this season, allowing just two earned runs with 25 strikeouts in 19.0 innings over four starts...Spikerman has shown a strong ability to get on base this season for Jersey Shore, slashing .260/.419/.340/.759 with 26 walks in 30 games. 


WHERE BROOKLYN AT: Along with the trade acquisitions, the Mets made several other roster moves affecting the Cyclones ahead of their series with Wilmington...RHPs Elwis Mijares and Joe Scarborough join Brooklyn from Single-A St. Lucie, INF Carter Dierdorf joins the team from the Florida Complex League, and INF Cole Mathis has been reinstated from the injured list...Mijares tallied over a strikeout per inning in 31 games for St. Lucie, striking out 55 over 51.1 innings...Scarborough, who also pitched in 31 games for St. Lucie, has earned five saves while striking out 38 batters in 36.0 innings...Dierdorf signed a minor league contract with the Mets on July 20...Mathis was acquired from Chicago-NL in a June 25 trade that saw former Cyclone LHP David Peterson go to the Cubs...In 25 games with High-A South Bend, Mathis slashed .260/.371/.490/.861 with 14 extra-base hits, 22 runs scored and 22 RBI.


SO LONG, FAREWELL: One week after INF Mitch Voit and RHP Noah Hall were promoted to Double-A Binghamton, four more Cyclones are joining them at the next level...OF JT Benson, OF Yohairo Cuevas, RHP Cristofer Gomez and RHP Bryce Jenkins were all promoted to Binghamton on Tuesday...Benson joined the Cyclones on May 19 and did nothing but hit...The outfielder slashed .253/.339/.481/820 over 45 games with Brooklyn, including a 28-game on-base streak...Cuevas tapped into his power in the last month, slugging six home runs and five in a five-game stretch from June 27-July 3...Gomez struck out a whopping 61 batters over 38.1 innings, pitching to a 3.29 ERA in 31 games with the Cyclones...Jenkins was dominant during his time on Coney Island, pitching to a minuscule 1.99 ERA with a 0.79 WHIP over 40.2 innings in 39 games...Additionally, INFs Colin Houck and Trace Willhoite were placed on the Development List.


DAIV-INE INTERVENTION: C Daiverson Gutiérrez homered twice last week, including a walk-off home run in Wednesday's thrilling come-from-behind win against Winston-Salem...The 20-year-old is responsible for all three Brooklyn walk-offs this season...The Venezuelan also had a walk-off RBI single vs. Jersey Shore on June 23, in addition to a game-winning RBI single vs. Wilmington on July 11...Gutiérrez was named the New York Mets' Minor League Player of the Week for July 7-12 vs. Wilmington, going 10-for-18 at the plate with a double, a home run, and six runs batted in...Over his last 18 games since July 7, Gutiérrez is hitting .265/.278/.441/.719 with three home runs and 18 RBI...After hitting .148/.278/.221/.499 over his first 43 contests, the Venezuela native is slashing .252/.310/.419/.729 in his last 42 games...Gutiérrez has added 19 runs scored, 15 extra-base hits, five home runs, and 32 RBI in that stretch and raised his batting average by 51 points (.148 to .199).


HURT-ADO LOCKER: LHP Daviel Hurtado is off to a terrific start with the Cyclones...The Cuban-born starter closed out Sunday's win with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief to earn his first career save...Since making his High-A debut on May 26, the 21-year-old is still among the best arms in the South Atlantic League even after struggling a tad in last Tuesday's series opener...Hurtado leads the South Atlantic League in batting average against (.168), WHIP (0.95) and opposing OPS (.481) since that date...He is also tied for second in ERA (2.50) and double plays (6), and tied for sixth in wins (4)...Hurtado was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month for June, collecting a 4-1 mark with a 2.03 ERA (6 ER in 26.2 IP) over five starts...He walked only four and struck out 26, while scattering 11 hits.


PITCHING IN: Brooklyn's pitching staff has been sharp as of late...In June, the Cyclones posted a 3.66 ERA (101 ER in 221.1 IP), the best mark in the South Atlantic League...Since May 14, Brooklyn pitchers have posted a 3.87 ERA (253 ER in 589.0 IP), tied for the third-lowest in Minor League Baseball...Only Texas' Single-A Hickory (3.46) and Chicago-AL's Single-A Kannapolis (3.56) have lower marks...The Cyclones' bullpen has been a huge reason for that success...Since that date, Brooklyn's 3.64 ERA (125 ER in 308.2 IP) from relievers is third-best in MiLB...Only Kannapolis (3.10) and Hickory (3.41) have produced better clips...Overall in 2026, the Cyclones' 4.18 ERA (409 ER in 880.0 IP) is fifth-best in MiLB.


BALL MAGNETS: The Cyclones have worn their fair share of pitches this season...Entering Wednesday, Brooklyn batters have been drilled by 97 pitches, which is the third-most in Minor League Baseball and the most in the South Atlantic League...San Diego's Single-A Lake Elsinore (103) leads MiLB...OF John Bay set the Cyclones' single-season record for hit-by-pitches with 19, surpassing OF Matt Rudick (2022) and C Chris Suero's (2025) previous mark of 16... The Cyclones have had four hitters plunked in a game on four separate occasions in 2026...The single-game franchise record is six, set on May 19, 2023, at Hudson Valley...The franchise record for hit-by-pitches in a season is 107, set in 2022.


BROOKLYN TO THE BIGS: After 14 former Cyclones made their Major League debuts in 2025, eight alumni have already accomplished the feat early in 2026...RHP Kade Morris made his MLB debut for the Athletics on June 6 in Houston against the Astros...Morris pitched in 11 games, making 10 starts and posting a 3.43 ERA over 57.2 innings during his time in Brooklyn in 2024....He joins RHP Wilkin Ramos, OF Nick Morabito, LHP Zac Thornton, OF Carson Benge, OF A.J. Ewing, RHP Cameron Foster, and RHP Anthony Nunez, who made their debuts earlier this season...Foster and Nunez each debuted with the Baltimore Orioles in April...Last year's 14 debuts set a new single-season franchise record.


THIS DATE IN CYCLONES HISTORY: On August 5, 2012, just two months after throwing the first no-hitter in New York Mets history, LHP Johan Santana reports to Brooklyn to make a rehab start...The southpaw tosses 3.0 shutout innings, allowing just one hit.


AMAZIN' STARTS HERE: According to MLB Pipeline, the Cyclones hold seven of the Mets' Top 30 prospects: INF Sammy Stafura (11), OF Aidan Smith (14), INF Cole Mathis (18), LHP Daviel Hurtado (24), RHP José Chirinos (25), 1B/OF Randy Guzmán (27), and OF John Spikerman (28)...SNY listed Guzmán at 19, INF Antonio Jimenez at 20, Gutiérrez at 27, and INF Trey Snyder at 30 entering the 2026 season...Baseball America also ranked RHP Calvin Ziegler as the organization's No. 34 farmhand.
