On August 17, 2026. the New York Mets have announced that they are adding Christopher Morel to the Major League Roster. The Mets signed the 27-year old infielder Morel on July 1. 2026 as a minor league free agent. In 31 games for Syracuse, Morel hit 12 homers, 29 RBIs while slashing .321/.382/.716 - this includes 7 homers in 11 games this August.
Once considered a top prospect for the Cubs, the 5-year MLB veteran has played a total of 499 games with 74 homers, 211 RBIs, .220/.296/.407.
Mets are looking to him for some right handed power at 1B, OF, and 3B. If he can repeat the results in Syracuse, it will be a huge win. If not, it is a low cost risk.
