FLUSHING, NY, August 3, 2026 - "The New York Mets have announced that they have acquired RHP Luke Gabrysh and OF John Spikerman from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for LHP Brooks Raley....Spikerman, 23, batted .260 (26-100) with four doubles, two triples, 26 runs, 26 walks, 18 stolen bases and a .419 OBP at High-A Jersey Shore this season. The switch-hitting outfielder has been limited to 30 High-A games in 2026 with two separate stints on the Injured List. In 111 career minor league games in parts of three seasons, Spikerman has tallied 69 runs, 77 walks, 55 stolen bases and a .376 OBP. A native of Houston, TX, Spikerman was selected by Philadelphia in the third round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Oklahoma."
Baseball America: "Double-plus speed is Spikerman’s carrying tool, and he’s also a quality center fielder who employs a line-drive hitting approach."
MLB Pipeline ranks Spikerman as the Mets 28th prospect. "Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 30 | Run: 70 | Arm: 60 | Field: 60 | Overall: 40...Ever since Spikerman showed up on the University of Oklahoma's campus for his freshman season in 2022, he's shown off explosive speed and athleticism. But injuries have gotten in the way of his progress, missing two months as a freshman, then breaking his right hamate in March 2024, his junior season. That's continued as a pro since the Phillies took him in the third round of that summer's Draft, with a shoulder injury limiting him to just 62 games in an uneven first full season of pro ball."
OF John Spikerman assigned to Brooklyn Cyclones.
