Syracuse, N.Y. - With the conclusion of the 2026 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline on Monday, the New York Mets have made a collection of roster moves that affect the Syracuse Mets.
Today, the New York Mets called up RHP Xzavion Curry, LHP Nate Lavender, OF Cristian Pache, and LHP Jefry Yan.
Curry has appeared in 11 games and nine starts for Syracuse this season, posted a 4.56 ERA in 51.1 innings with 32 strikeouts to 13 walks. The 28-year-old became the first Syracuse pitcher to work seven innings in a June 16 victory vs. Norfolk. Curry has made five appearances with New York, including a five-inning bulk relief outing on July 31 vs. Miami. The right-hander was signed by the Mets as a minor league free agent on May 9 after beginning the year with Quintana Roo of the Mexican League. Curry has played parts of five big league seasons with Cleveland, Miami, and NY Mets.
Lavender had his contract selected by the Mets on August 4. In 25 outings in Syracuse, the left-hander has worked a 3.27 ERA in 33 innings with 53 strikeouts to 11 walks. At the time of his promotion, Lavender listed a 40.2% strikeout rate, the highest among any pitcher in the International League with a minimum of 30 innings pitched. The 26-year-old was a 14th round pick by the Mets in the 2021 MLB Draft and has yet to make his major league debut.
Yan only made 15 appearances with Syracuse but provided unforgettable moments on the mound. The 29-year-old posted a 2.40 ERA in 15 innings pitched and struck out 32 of the 63 batters he faced. Yan was selected to the Mets 40-man roster on July 2 but did not appear for New York. The southpaw was originally signed by the Angels in 2014 at the age of 17 and did not play in affiliated baseball from 2016 to 2020. Yan signed with the Mets on August 1, 2025, and made his organizational debut at the start of 2026 with Double-A Binghamton. His high-flying celebrations and electric slides have yet to debut in the majors this season.
Pache joined the Mets 40-man roster on August 4. In 93 games with Syracuse, the outfielder slashed .232/.289/.356 with five home runs and 41 runs batted in. In 23 games in April, Pache hit .309 and posted an .843 OPS. The 27-year-old signed with the Mets on December 15, 2025, after spending parts of five big league seasons with Atlanta (2020-21), Oakland (2022), Philadelphia (2023-25), Baltimore (2025) and Miami (2025). Pache was once rated as the No. 7 prospect in all of baseball entering the 2021 season with Atlanta and was traded to Oakland on March 14, 2022, in the blockbuster deal for 1B Matt Olson.
From Double-A Binghamton, the New York Mets transferred RHP Dakota Hawkins, INF Nick Lorusso, RHP Brian Metoyer, OF Jose Ramos, and OF D’Andre Smith to Syracuse today.
Hawkins signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 MLB Draft and moved across three different levels this season. The right-hander was originally promoted to Syracuse on April 24 and in his lone outing, tossed three scoreless innings with four strikeouts at Worcester. Hawkins was transferred to High-A Brooklyn on April 28 and pitched for the Cyclones from April 30 to July 9, making 15 appearances and seven starts with a 2.29 ERA in 35.1 IP with 28 strikeouts to eight walks. The 29-year-old was promoted to Binghamton on July 22 and made two appearances before being sent back to Syracuse on August 4.
Lorusso is with Syracuse for the first time in his career. Primarily a third baseman, Lorusso has spent the entire 2026 season with Double-A Binghamton, where he posted a .243/.319/.495 slash line with 19 home runs and 55 runs batted in. In June the 25-year-old had a 1.014 OPS, the sixth best in the Eastern League. Lorusso was drafted in the ninth round in the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Maryland and becomes the third active Syracuse player from the state of New York, growing up in Carmel.
Ramos joins Syracuse for the first time in his career. After spending his first six seasons in the LA Dodgers system, the Panamanian signed with the Mets on November 26, 2025. Ramos suited up for Team Panama in the 2026 World Baseball Classic and went 4-for-14 (.286/.375/.357) with one run batted in and a .732 OPS. The 25-year-old suited up in 91 games with Double-A Binghamton this season, slashing .218/.331/.391 with five home runs, 54 runs batted in, and a .722 OPS. Last season was the only year in which Ramos reached Triple-A, playing in 44 games for Oklahoma City (LA Dodgers).
Smith is headed to Syracuse for the first time. The utility man was a fifth-round draft choice by the Mets in 2022 out of the University of Southern California. Smith played 26 games with Double-A Binghamton this season and slashed .200/.287/.358 with two home runs, 15 runs batted in and a .645 OPS.
Metoyer also joins Syracuse for the first time. The 40th round pick by the Mets in 2018 has pitched each of the last two seasons with Double-A Binghamton. This year, Metoyer has a 4.38 ERA in 39 innings with 58 strikeouts to 20 walks. Last season, the right-hander posted a 1.70 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched across High-A Brooklyn and Binghamton. Metoyer missed the entire 2023 and 2024 seasons due to Tommy John surgery.
The New York Mets traded C Ben Rortvedt to the LA Dodgers in exchange for RHP Chayce McDermott on August 3.
Rortvedt was Syracuse’s backup catcher this season after being claimed off waivers from the LA Dodgers on February 15. In 48 games, the four-year major leaguer slashed .234/.319/.414 with six home runs and 26 runs batted in. Rortvedt won the 2025 World Series with the Dodgers and played in four games, highlighted by an RBI single in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card vs. Cincinnati. Rortvedt has been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
McDermott has been assigned to New York.
The New York Mets acquired RHP Zach Franklin along with RHP Gabe Davis in a trade with the Chicago White Sox in exchange for RHP Huascar Brazobán and assigned Franklin to Syracuse on August 3.
Franklin made 33 appearances this season with Triple-A Charlotte and posted a 4.37 ERA in 45.1 innings with 60 strikeouts to 14 walks. The Marion, North Carolina native posted a 2.25 ERA in 10 outings in May. Franklin was drafted in the 10th round in the 2023 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox out of the University of Missouri.
The New York Mets claimed C Shawn Ross off waivers from Pittsburgh and optioned Ross to Triple-A Syracuse on August 2.
Ross earned an invite to 2026 Major League Spring Training with Pittsburgh. In 12 games for the Pirates, the 26-year-old backstop went 8-for-15 (.533/.500/1.133) with two doubles, one home run, two runs batted in, and a 1.500 OPS. Ross broke camp with Double-A Altoona. In 22 games with the Curve, the Puerto Rican slashed .211/.403/.614 with seven home runs and 16 runs batted in. Ross earned a promotion to Triple-A Indianapolis on May 13 where he played 33 games with the Indians, hit .163 with three home runs and nine runs batted in. After just four years after being signed out of independent baseball, Ross had his contract selected by Pittsburgh on July 24 and played in two big league games. After crushing his first major league home run on July 26 vs. the Chicago Cubs, the catcher was designated for assignment on August 27 by Pittsburgh and claimed off waivers by the NY Mets on August 2, where he was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
The New York Mets returned RHP Dedniel Núñez from his rehab assignment with Syracuse and activated him to the 26-man roster today, making his long-awaited return to Queens after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Today, the Syracuse Mets activated INF Andy Ibañez from the seven-day injured list and activated INF Vidal Bruján off of the development list.
Additionally, the New York Mets released LHP Brandon Waddell on August 3 and released INF Jihwan Bae on August 4.
