Hammerheads hit 5 homers in 16-8 win over Mets Robbins, Carey record multi-hit games in loss
JUPITER, Fla. (August 12, 2026) - The Jupiter Hammerheads scored the first six runs of the game and the last nine runs of the game in a 16-8 victory over the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Jupiter leads the series 2-0. The Mets have lost four straight.
The Mets trailed 6-0 after two innings but rallied back to take a lead in the middle of the game. They scored five runs with two outs in the sixth inning. Dylan Carey hit a two-run single to bring the Mets within one, then Aiden Robbins hit a two-run single to put the Mets up 8-7.
In the bottom of the sixth Elian Peña turned a double play to get the first two outs of the inning. The inning appeared over when Jacob Lombard hit a fly ball to left field but it was dropped by Kuhio Aloy for an error. The next batter Echedry Vargas hit a two-run homer to give the Hammerheads a 9-8 lead. It was the second two-run homer of the game for Vargas.
Jupiter scored seven runs in the eighth inning to bust the game wide open. Jacob McCutheon hit a leadoff homer run against Brett Banks. PJ Morlando hit a two-run homer off Banks later in the inning.
Overall the Hammerheads slugged five homers. Their top three batters Cam Kozeal, Lombard and Vargas combined to go 6 for 13 with three homers, a double, seven RBI and nine runs. Lombard was 2 for 4 with four runs and three stolen bases.
For the Mets, Robbins and Carey had two hits apiece. Peña went 1 for 4 to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Bohan Adderley was 1 for 3 with a single, walk and three runs.
Jose Lopez took a tough loss in long relief for the Mets. He pitched 4.2 innings and gave up five runs, only two of which were earned.
The Mets (16-27, 49-60) and Hammerheads (18-25, 55-54) play the third game of their series at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Thursday. First pitch is 6:30 p.m
