PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (August 22, 2026) - The St. Lucie Mets snapped a seven-game losing streak with a thrilling 6-2 win in 10 innings over the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Saturday night at Clover Park.
Jack Toomey hit a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning off Bryce Alewin to win the game for St. Lucie. It was the first professional home run for Toomey, who was signed out of Boston College after the draft.
The game went to extra innings tied 1-1. The Flying Tigers scored their run in regulation on RBI single by Zach MacDonald in the fourth inning. The Mets scored their lone regulation run in the eighth inning when Reed Stallman came home from third base on a wild pitch by Leonardo Rosell.
Michael Oliveto hit a one-out RBI double in the 10th inning against Zack Mack to give the Flying Tigers a 2-1 lead.
The Mets tied the game 2-2 when Vladi Gomez hit a sac fly off Alewine for the second out in the bottom of the 10th. Ryan Tayman kept the inning going with a walk. Bohan Adderley then chopped a single into right field. Alewine plunked Kuhio Aloy to load the bases and set up Toomey’s heroics.
Mack got the win. He pitched the ninth and 10th innings, allowing just the one free run to score in the 10th.
