Tonight's Brooklyn Pitcher - RHP Emilio Obispo

One of the Mets rising pitching prospects is Emilio Obispo.  Signed in 2024 and not pitching in 2025 due to injury, Emilio has turned it around in 2026.  Just turning 20 on August 14, 2026 and not Rule 5 Eligible for another 2 years, expect Emilio to be a fast riser on the Mets Prospect lists over the winter and next few years.

Baseball America: "The stuff is fairly compelling for a teenager. Obispo features a 94 mph four-seam fastball that has touched 97 mph, though it lacks exceptional ride, a 93 mph sinker with nearly 20 inches of armside run, a changeup with similar movement that comes in 8-10 mph slower than his fastballs, and an 81 mph slider with curveball-like two-plane break. He throws all of it from a low arm slot with relatively short extension."

EMILIO EXPRESS: The 20-year-old has quietly had a breakout season...Among Florida State League pitchers with 50.0 or more innings, Obispo led the circuit in ERA (2.03)...The right-hander was also fifth in opposing OPS (.615), ninth in WHIP (1.26), and 10th in batting average against (.216)...Obispo was also tied for 10th in the circuit in double plays (7).

JULY HEAT: Obispo had a tremendous month of July...The Dominican native was 2-0 record during the month with a 1.62 ERA (3 ER In 16.2 IP) in four appearances (three starts)...Obispo has allowed eight hits and walked eight, while striking out 18.

COMEBACK REPORT: Obispo has thrived this season after an injury-plagued 2025 campaign...The 19-year-old did not pitch last season, spending his first year stateside on the Florida Complex League Mets' 60-day injured list..
