Final: Mets 15, Marlins 14

Christopher Morel

Player of the Game: Christopher Morel

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins, 15-14, at loanDepot park on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Christopher Morel went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI to lead the way. Daniel Duarte (2-0) earned the win; Josh Ekness took the loss; Tobias Myers (2) picked up the save.

AP News: "Francisco Lindor hit a three-run homer, Christopher Morel added a two-run shot and finished a triple shy of the cycle as the New York Mets outslugged the Miami Marlins 15-14 Wednesday night to complete a series sweep."

Brian Joura Mets360: "The Mets went up 8-0, the Marlins tied the game, the Mets went up 14-8 and held on for a 15-14 win over the Marlins Wednesday night in Miami. The victory gave the Mets a three-game sweep and they finished the year with a winning record against the Marlins..."

NY Post: "A.J. Ewing and Brett Baty each delivered an RBI single in the second inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. Baty left the game upon reaching first base with “left knee pain,” according to the team. The Mets weren’t finished in the inning: Luis Torrens stroked a two-run double before Bo Bichette’s RBI single extended the lead to 5-0. Carson Benge’s RBI groundout completed the six-run inning."

NY Daily News: "In the third, Christopher Morel — who was released by the Marlins in June — struck a two-run home run against Junk, putting the Mets up, 8-0. It was Morel’s first homer in 32 games (10 with the Mets) this season."

MLB.comIn the seventh, the Mets loaded the bases before A.J. Ewing’s sacrifice fly to center gave New York the lead back for good at 9-8. The Mets ended up tacking on five more runs, including three off a line-drive homer to the right-field corner from Lindor for a 14-8 lead.

SNY.TV: "Nate Lavender couldn't seal the deal in the ninth, letting up three runs over 0.1 IP. Thankfully, Tobias Myers saved the day by recording the final two outs for his second career save."
