AFL NEWS: MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ANNOUNCES ROSTERS FOR 2026 ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE SEASON

Yesterday, MLB announced the rosters for the Arizona Fall League.

This year Mets Prospects will play for the Surprise Saguaros.  The team is full of players that missed time in 2026 due to injury.

The Mets contingent:

Cole Mathis, 1B/3B (No. 13) Obtained from the Cubs for David Peterson;

Bruin Agbayani, SS (No. 29) Obtained from the Twins for A.J. Minter;

Boston Baro, INF;

Irving Cota, RHP;

Brendan Girton, RHP;

Ryan Lambert, RHP;

Peyton Prescott, RHP;

Calvin Ziegler, RHP

      Major League Baseball has announced the rosters for the 2026 Arizona Fall League (AFL) season. Featuring 12 of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospects and 75 organizational Top 30 prospects, the season begins with AFL Opening Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, with the league’s first game showcasing the Salt River Rafters at Glendale Desert Dogs at 12:30 p.m. Arizona local time.

The prospect pool is headlined by a top 30 trio of OF Eduardo Quintero (Los Angeles Dodgers), OF Zyhir Hope (Detroit Tigers), and OF Caleb Bonemer (Chicago White Sox).

Quintero, the AFL’s top prospect and No. 19 prospect in baseball, slashed .309/.445/.495 with 12 home runs and 68 RBI in 111 games with the Great Lakes Loons (High-A). He ranked top 10 in the Midwest League in 12 categories before his promotion to Double-A Tulsa. Hope, returning for his second stint in the league, has crushed 29 home runs, while leading Double-A with 111 RBI, generating 252 total bases. Bonemer, at 20 years old, ranks fifth in Minor League Baseball with 37 home runs, 19 of which with the Birmingham Barons (Double-A).

AFL rosters this season include five players who represented their organizations in the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game presented by Nike: Quintero (Dodgers), Bonemer (White Sox), Flewelling (Rays), Irish (Orioles), and Dakota Jordan (Giants). A total of three players on Arizona Fall League rosters are No. 1 organizational prospects: Hope (Togers), Nimmala (Angels), and Crisantes (Diamondbacks). A total of four players are currently on 40-man rosters.

 

The Glendale Desert Dogs lead the league with four Top 100 MLB Pipeline prospects. Two Los Angeles Dodgers (No. 19 OF Eduardo Quintero and No. 86 Charles Davalan) are among the top prospects for the Desert Dogs alongside No. 29 Caleb Bonemer of the Chicago White Sox and No. 59 Tate Southisene of the Atlanta Braves. The Scottsdale Scorpions and Salt River Rafters each have three top 100 prospects.

 

The Arizona Fall League is comprised of all 30 MLB organizations, divided into six teams, with each team representing five affiliations. Each MLB organization sends at least seven prospects to the Valley to compile the league’s rosters. The 2026 AFL team assignments are as follows:

 

Glendale Desert Dogs: Braves, Dodgers, Marlins, Pirates, White Sox

Mesa Solar Sox: Angels, Athletics, Blue Jays, Cubs, Red Sox

Peoria Javelinas: Cardinals, Mariners, Orioles, Padres, Reds

Salt River Rafters: D-backs, Nationals, Rockies, Twins, Yankees

Scottsdale Scorpions: Astros, Brewers, Giants, Rays, Tigers

Surprise Saguaros: Guardians, Mets, Phillies, Rangers, Royals

 

Regarded as the premier league for baseball’s top prospects, the Arizona Fall League continues to develop top-caliber talent across all 30 MLB Clubs. AFL games will be held primarily at six Cactus League ballparks throughout the 2026 season - Camelback Ranch-Glendale, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Sloan Park, Scottsdale Stadium, and Surprise Stadium - with select games at Kino Sports Complex and Goodyear Ballpark.

This AFL season, 12 participants are alumni of MLB’s youth development programs, including the Nike RBI program and MLB Develops events such as the DREAM Series, Hank Aaron Invitational, and Breakthrough Series. MLB Develops alumni participating in the AFL include: Jay Allen II (Peoria), Antonio Anderson (Mesa), Myles Bailey (Mesa), Isaiah Drake (Glendale), Kenya Huggins (Mesa), Dante Nori (Surprise), Zion Rose (Surprise), Tate Southisene (Glendale), Tyresse Turner (Surprise), Dalton Wentz (Scottsdale), Hiro Wyatt (Surprise), and Nazzan Zanetello (Mesa).

 

The 2026 AFL season begins on Friday, Oct. 3, with season highlights including:

• The AFL returns to Tucson for the first time since 2002 with the Tucson Doubleheader on Saturday, October 10th at Kino Sports Complex.
• The fourth-annual Goodyear Ballpark Tripleheader is on Saturday, October 17th, at the Spring Training home of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Guardians.
• The 20th annual AFL Fall Stars Game will be played on Sunday, November 8, preceded by the AFL Home Run Derby on Saturday, November 7. Both events will take place at Salt River Fields, the Spring Training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. The game will air LIVE on MLB Network, MLB.com, and the MLB App.
• The AFL Postseason will once again include all six teams for 2026 with a quarterfinal round featuring the No. 3 vs No. 6 and No. 4 vs. No. 5 seeds at Sloan Park on November 12. The semifinals (No. 2 seed vs. No. 3/6 winner and No. 1 vs. No. 4/5 winner) will be November 13 at Peoria Sports Complex.
• The 24th AFL Championship Game returns to Peoria Sports Complex, the Spring Training home of the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, on Saturday, November 14th. The game will be broadcast LIVE on MLB Network, MLB.com, and the MLB App.
