Arizona Fall Mets Prospect Profile: RHP Calvin Ziegler

The Mets are using this year's AFL assignments to give pitchers innings and batters at-bats.  Seven of the eight Mets Prospects heading to Arizona have all spent significant time on the Injured List in 2026.  Since signing in 2021, Calvin Ziegler has seen a lot of time on the IL.

After appearing in just two games in 2024, he missed all of 2025 and came back late in 2026 recovering from Tommy John surgery. 

When healthy Calvin throws a 94-96 MPH fastball and high 80's slider.  He also has been working on a curveball, sinker and changeup.  

In their profile of Ziegler over the years, Baseball America pointed to two concerns - walks and staying healthy. Hopefully this Fall, Ziegler can show he has made progress in both areas.

• Made 16 starts for Single-A St. Lucie in 2022 in first professional season and went 0-6 with a 4.44 ERA, .166 BAA, and 70 strikeouts over 46.2 innings.
• Ranked as high as the New York Mets' No. 10 prospect (MLB Pipeline) entering the 2023 season.
• MLB Pipeline ranked his fastball and curveball among the best tools in the Mets' system in 2024.
• Represented the Mets in the 2024 Spring Breakout Game and recorded the save against the Washington Nationals prospects.
