After missing two months from AAA ball in 2026 with an IL and rehab stint from July 11 to September 10, Ryan Lambert heads to the Arizona Fall League to get some work and try to replicate his 2025 success.
In 2025, Lambert regularly hit 99 MPH with his fastball, K'd 81 batters with a 1.62 ERA and a 4.86 BB/9 rate in 50 innings for Brooklyn and Binghamton and started off 2026 as the #29 on Baseball America's Mets Prospect List and #18 on MLB.com's MLB Pipeline Prospect List.
MLB Pipeline said he had the best fastball in the Mets Minor Leagues and Baseball America said "Lambert’s fastball is one of the best in the minor leagues."
Anthony DiComo wrote this about Ryan Lambert n February 2026: "...Lambert is the hardest-throwing pitcher in camp. During the earliest days of Spring Training, he hit 99.6 mph on the radar gun. He eclipsed 100 mph last year..."
Unfortunately, Lambert's 2025 success did not translate to AAA this year. He saw his BB/9 rate rise to 10.24, his ERA to 8.07 and his velocity average closer to 95 than his previous 99.
In July, he ended up on the IL with an undisclosed injury, and after rehab appearances in St. Lucie and Brooklyn, threw six games for Syracuse in September going 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and a 2.786 WHIP in 4.2 innings.
After 2025 and his 2026 Spring outings, many saw Ryan Lambert as a future Mets bullpen piece. Not Rule 5 Eligible until 2027, he will have this Fall and the 2027 Syracuse season to try to get back on track.
