Limited to 11 games in 2026 due to a shoulder injury in March and a later quad injury, Boston Baro is heading to the Arizona Fall League to make up for lost time.
Drafted by the Mets in the 8th round of the 2023 Draft and signing to a $700K bonus to keep him out of a commitment to UCLA, Boston Baro had a solid year for the St. Lucie Mets in 2024 slashing .288/.368/.399 with 42 steals in 84 games.
After being the youngest player on Brooklyn's opening day roster in 2025, Boston got off to a slow start but seemed to start to figure things out in July and August only to miss the balance of the season with a hamstring injury on August 27th.
Placed on the 60-day IL with a right shoulder injury to start the 2026 season, he played two rehab games in May for the FCL Mets before suffering a quad injury that kept him out of action until late August where he played 9 games for St. Lucie.
Per the Brooklyn Cyclones August 27, 2025 Game Notes: In 2025 - "Ranked as the Mets' No. 19 prospect by MLB Pipeline and No. 15 by Baseball America...Entered 2025 as the Mets' No. 15 farmhand by BA and No. 17 in their first re-rank...No. 25 and No. 23, respectively, in 2024...Entered 2025 as MLB Pipeline's No. 14 Mets' farmhand."
Baro's lack of playing time in 2026 coupled with an influx of prospects to the Mets system at the 2026 trade deadline, pushed him off the Top 30 Mets Prospect lists.
Baseball America says that Baro has a "a picturesque lefthanded swing" but project him to be a left handed super utility player. They have his Scouting Grades as Hit: 50 | Power: 30 | Run: 55 | Field: 50 | Arm: 55.
Hopefully he can stay healthy this Fall and get back to advancing up the Mets Minor League system next year.
