NY Post: "After seven excellent and scoreless innings on defense and on the mound, the Mets caved in the eighth and ninth in a crushing 3-2 heartbreaker to the Rangers in front of 41,752 at Citi Field who began Saturday afternoon cheering for the old timers and ended the night booing what is left of the 2025 Mets. 

Brian Joura Mets360: "The struggling offense did next to nothing against Patrick Corbin, which is as tough to write as it was to watch. Their only run off Corbin came when Francisco Lindor had a bunt single and Pete Alonso hit a bloop that Lindor hustled to third base on with a head-first slide. The ball got away and Lindor leaped up and charged home, scoring on his second head-first slide of the play."

NY Daily News: "The Mets got six scoreless innings from standout rookie Brandon Sproat on Saturday in his second career start, only for their bullpen to implode in a back-breaking 3-2 loss to the Texas Rangers. Wyatt Langford’s ninth-inning RBI single against Edwin Diaz proved to be the game-winner at Citi Field, extending the Mets’ losing streak to a season-high eight games."

Andrew Tredinnick The Record: "It began with a catcher's interference by Francisco Alvarez, which gave Josh Smith first base to lead off the frame. Then, Langford doubled into the left-field corner and Joc Pederson knocked a sacrifice fly to center field...After Rogers struck out Jake Burger, Mendoza made his move to Diaz. But the Mets closer walked Josh Jung and gave up an RBI ground-rule double to Rowdy Tellez that evened the score."

The Mets opened up their series with the Phillies with a convincing 11-3 win Friday night in Philadelphia. The Mets are now 12-2 in their last 14 games and are a season-high 15 games over .500 with an 81-66 record."

"Francisco Alvarez and Brandon Nimmo clubbed three-run home runs in the game-turning fifth inning, and Harrison Bader added a three-run shot in the eighth. Lefthander Jose Quintana tossed seven shutout innings."

Mike Puma NY Post: Mets’ homer barrage supports Jose Quintana’s gem in key win over Phillies. "Jose Quintana turned the Citizens Bank bandbox into his personal sandbox Friday night with maybe the defining performance of his two-year Mets career. Fortunate early that several hard-hit balls were in just the right spots, the left-hander survived and pitched to weaker contact as the game progressed." 

Dan Martin NY Post: Francisco Lindor removed early with lower back soreness in potential Mets scare. "An encouraging night for the Mets took an ominous turn on Friday, as Francisco Lindor was removed from their game against the Phillies before the bottom of the seventh. The shortstop grabbed his left knee after being caught in a rundown and slipping between second and third to end the top of the sixth. However, the Mets announced Lindor was dealing with lower back soreness."

Mets: Lost four straight games at Citi Field for the first time since dropping five straight home games from 9/13-9/18/21....Move to 32-10-3 in series this year...Mets pitchers have struck at 10 or more batters in 75 games this season, tying a franchise record set in 2019...Was their fourth game of the year with at least 16 strikeouts.

Jacob deGrom (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 10 K): Notched his third double-digit strikeout contest of the season and 56th of his career...Is the second-most such games in Mets history behind Tom Seaver's 60 games with 10 or more strikeouts.

Pete Alonso (1-3, HR, RBI, BB, R): Put the Mets on the board with a solo shot in the ninth inning...Became the fifth player in club history with multiple seasons of at least 110 RBI (120 in 2019)...Carlos Beltrán has three such seasons while Carlos Delgado, David Wright and Mike Piazza each have two.

Metstradamus: “One day after Luis Rojas kept Seth Lugo in for the sixth inning after he labored through a tough 25 pitch fifth inning, Rojas reversed course and pulled David Peterson who was at 81 pitches, one less than Lugo was, but had just thrown a nine pitch fifth inning. So, we keep pitchers in who are limping along but pull pitchers who are finding themselves.” 

Mike Puma NY Post: “His [Peterson’s] pitch limit was 90 pitches and third time through the middle of the order, we felt real good about Brach coming in who matches up real good against lefties,” [Mets Manager Luis] Rojas said. 

Deehsa Thosar NY Daily News: “Brach walked three consecutive Blue Jays to load the bases for Jared Hughes, who walked in a run on the fourth batter of the sixth inning. The wheels spun off when Hughes gave up a bases-clearing three-run double to Santiago Espinal and another RBI single to Danny Jansen. Toronto’s five-run rally sealed the Mets' fate as they dropped to five games under .500 with just 13 games remaining.” 

Newsday: Before that mess, Peterson was solid, allowing two runs and three hits in five frames…in the second inning…Lourdes Gurriel Jr. walloped a no-doubt two-run homer…Peterson settled in to retire 12 of his next (and final) 15 batters. Had Peterson remained in, the Mets might have been able to avoid the Brach/Hughes disaster.” 

NY Post: Base-running blunders continue to haunt Mets. “On Sunday, the gaffe came early, but was also pivotal in a second straight defeat, when Todd Frazier got tagged out in a rundown between third and home in the top of the first inning of a 7-3 defeat at Sahlen Field in Buffalo.”

With the game tied at 4 in the 8th, the Braves take a 7-4 lead as Daniel Castro singles off Dario Alvarez to bring home an inherited runner and Adonis Garcia drives in two more runner off Bobby Parnell inherited from Alvarez.  After the Braves' Peter Moylan K's Ruben Tejada and Kevin Plawecki to start the 9th, Juan Lagares doubled, Curtis Granderson walked and Daniel Murphy hit a 3-run homer to tie it.  Mets scored 3 in the 10th on a error and 2 bases loaded walks to win their 7th straight.  

Mike Puma NY Post: "The Mets (82-61) secured their first winning season since 2008 and saw their magic number to clinch the NL East shrink to 11. The Nationals beat the Marlins 5-0 and remained 9 ½ games behind the Mets in the division.

National Pastime.com: The Braves extend their franchise-record home-game losing streak, dropping a dreadful 10-7 ten-inning decision to the Mets for their 12th consecutive loss at Turner Field. Atlanta was leading 7-4 before Daniel Murphy's three-run homer tied the game after the first two batters were retired in the top of the ninth inning.

Facing Dustin Hermanson, the Mets manage just one hit through the first eight innings, and that is a blooper by Carlos Mendoza, his first major league hit.
