After scoring the game’s first run in the top of the eighth inning, David Peterson allowed the tying run to score in the bottom of the eighth and Edwin Diaz surrendered the game winner in the ninth, as the Mets lost a heartbreaker to the Phillies, 2-1 Sunday afternoon." 

John Harper SNY. TV: "Peterson bounced back in a big way from his poor start last week in Toronto, holding the Phillies to one run over 7 2/3 innings, his longest outing of the season. The left-hander shut out the Phils for seven innings before giving up a run in the eighth on back-to-back doubles by Weston Wilson and Buddy Kennedy." 

Dan Martin NY Post: Edwin Diaz gives up walk-off hit as Mets drop another gut-wrencher to Phillies after Francisco Lindor exits. "Diaz opened the inning by striking out Bryce Harper before Nick Castellanos singled to right. Castellanos stole second as Alec Bohm whiffed for the second out, but Realmuto ended the game with a base hit to right that scored Castellanos." 

Dan Martin NY Post: Francisco Lindor set for MRI with back soreness jeopardizing his Mets availability. "He’s set to get an MRI exam Monday in Queens with his availability for the near future in question." 

NY Post: Mets’ struggling stars can’t let season spiral into a potential Francisco Lindor what-if. "Lindor isn’t the whole team, and yet it seems that way when players such as Alonso, Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Martinez, in particular, aren’t producing. On Sunday that group combined for three singles, with Tyrone Taylor’s home run in the eighth inning accounting for the only Mets run."

DeGrom ties the record set by Jim Deshaies in 1986. He strikes out 13 in 7 innings but ends up with a no-decision as the Marlins win, 6 - 5.

Butch Huskey and Bernard Gilkey each hit two homers and Brian McRae adds another in the Game 1 win.
