Major League Baseball and the New York Mets will host a screening of the new MLB Network documentary When America Took the Field at Citi Field on September 10 in an event for Mets season ticket holders and select guests. Mets alumni including Todd Zeile, who serves as an Executive Producer on the film along with MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning production staff, Mike Piazza, John Franco, Robin Ventura and David Wright and members of NYPD and FDNY will be in attendance.
Produced in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, When America Took the Field is a new 90-minute original documentary exploring the unique role baseball played in helping the country heal in the days, weeks and months that followed. Debuting Thursday, September 10 at 10 p.m. ET on MLB Network, the film examines how baseball brought Americans together and provided a sense of hope, unity and normalcy in the aftermath of one of the darkest days in the nation’s history.
