On Monday November 2, 2026, the New York Mets claimed RHP Jack Anderson on waivers, the second time in a year that he changed teams via waivers.
Originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2021, Jack was selected by the Red Sox in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft. He was claimed on waivers by the Minnesota Twins on July 11, 2026.
Over his minor league and brief MLB career, he has K'd just under one strikeout per inning while maintaining a very low walk per 9 inning rate. All but 24 of his 172 minor league appearances have been out of the pen.
In 2026, he made his MLB debut appearing in three games with Red Sox and four with the Twins. He throws a low 90's fastball with a splitter, slider and sweeper in the 80's.
It is possible, the Mets will try to slip him through waivers during the off-season so they can assign him to Syracuse while being able to keep him under team control.
Turning 27 late in November 2026, he provides the Mets with an MLB experienced depth piece. According to FanGraphs, he has two minor league options remaining.
