The move keeps Alex out of the Rule 5 Draft in December.
Named by Baseball America as the best Athlete in the Mets system, Alex struggled in 2023 slashing 221/.310/317 - .627 OPS.
It was surprising that none of the eligible pitchers were added including Matt Allan, Joander Suarez, Coleman Crow and Justin Jarvis.
