"The Mets (20-15) finally had a solid game offensively, hitting three home runs, but it wasn’t enough to let them escape getting swept four games by the Cubs for the first time since 1992...Anthony Recker’s two homers against Travis Wood were overshadowed by his passed ball in the seventh inning that let Dexter Fowler score the go-ahead run...Jon Niese (3-3) put two runners aboard in the inning before Hansel Robles entered and got the second out. But with Kris Bryant at the plate, Recker couldn’t handle a Robles slider."

Andrew Marchand NY Post: METS VICTORY NOT IN CARDS; OPPOSITES ADD UP TO AMAZIN’ LOSS. "Kaz Matsui, who has been a virtual bust, provided the Mets’ biggest hit, a three-run go-ahead sixth-inning triple. Roberto Hernandez, who has been the Mets’ most reliable reliever, blew a one-run lead in eighth."

NY Post: PRETTY SUB-PEDRO ; SECOND STRAIGHT STINKER. "Pedro was tagged for five runs – tied with his start at Milwaukee last week for the most he’s given up all season – and looked far from being a superhuman strikeout machine in a no-decision 7-6 loss to the Cardinals yesterday afternoon. Charitable and hittable, Martinez (4-1, 3.38 ERA) didn’t strike much fear into anybody yesterday in Flushing, going six innings with two walks and four strikeouts. For the second consecutive start, Martinez surrendered five runs to enemy hitters."
