From the Mets 3 Tigers 2 Post Game Notes - 5/13/2026

Mets: The Mets beat the Tigers, 3-2, in 10 innings...They have now won three of their last four series and improved to 7-4 over their last 11 games.

Carson Benge (3-5, RBI, SB): Recorded his first career walk-off RBI with a single in the 10th inning...He also singled in the third and seventh innings...Marked his first career three-hit game...He has recorded multiple hits in each of his last two games and he has hit safely in eight of his last nine games...He is batting .387 (12-31) with a 1.038 OPS over that span

Bo Bichette (1-4, RBI): Singled to right field in the seventh inning to even the game at 2-2.

Brooks Raley (1.0 IP, BB, K): Recorded his first win of the season after tossing a scoreless 10th inning.

NY Post: "Despite early chances and Juan Soto’s worrisome early exit after fouling a ball off his right foot, the Mets’ inconsistent bats came through when it mattered most in their 3-2 win in 10 innings over the Tigers at Citi Field. ."

Anthony DiComo Mets com: "In the first inning at Citi Field, Carson Benge -- one of the most skilled defenders in the Mets organization -- flat-out missed a Dillon Dingler line drive to right, resulting in a double and a two-run Tigers rally. In the seventh, he was thrown out at home on a botched double-steal attempt, largely because he self-admittedly broke too passively toward the plate. Yet neither of those mistakes sunk the Mets."

Newsday: "Carson Benge laced a one-out walk-off single through the middle to drive in ghost runner A.J. Ewing from second base and give the Mets a 3-2 win in 10 innings..."

Brian Joura Mets360: "It was a three-hit game for Benge, who had a bloop in the seventh inning, keeping things alive for Bo Bichette to tie things up with a bloop of his own. The Mets tried to take the lead with a double-steal but Benge got a poor break from third base and was thrown out easily at the plate."

Abbey Mastracco NY Daily News: "Christian Scott had an inefficient outing, allowing two runs over 4 2/3 innings on seven hits, walking two and striking out five. Detroit took a run off the righty in the first inning, then another in the second. Scott then settled in nicely for the rest"

1972

After twenty-one seasons with the Giants, 41 year-old Willie Mays makes a dramatic return to New York in his debut with the Mets when he hits a game-winning home run off Don Carrithers to defeat his former team, 5-4. The 'Say Hey Kid's' 647th career homer in the fifth breaks a 4-4 deadlock.

2006

On Mother's Day, with his mom in the stands, Bill Hall hits a walk-off home run to beat the Mets at Miller Park, 6-5. The Milwaukee center fielder, joining many other major league players, uses a pink bat in MLB's effort to raise public awareness of breast cancer.

2009

The Mets collect a franchise-record seven stolen bases in their 7-4 victory over the Giants at AT&T Park. Ironically, the team sets the club mark without the help of a sidelined Jose Reyes, New York's all-time career leader in thefts.
