Press Release: Syracuse pitcher Felipe De La Cruz named International League Pitcher of the Week

Syracuse starter struck out nine batters in six scoreless innings pitched last week against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

SYRACUSE, NY – Felipe De La Cruz has been named International League Pitcher of the week for the week of April 28-May 4. De La Cruz made his Triple-A debut on May 2nd with the Syracuse Mets against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just one hit, no walks, and striking out nine batters. The 23-year-old also retired the final 17 batters he faced in his start. This is the first weekly award a Syracuse player has earned in 2025. 
 
De La Cruz made his Double-A debut this season as well, appearing in four games with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies before joining Syracuse. With Double-A Binghamton, De La Cruz struck out 20 batters in 13 and two-thirds innings pitched while walking just three batters and allowing three earned runs for a 1.98 ERA. 
 
This is the second weekly award De La Cruz has won in his professional career. De La Cruz was named South Atlantic Pitcher of the Week on May 26, 2024 with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones.
